Yesterday, on the 9th of July, we had the privilege of presenting the findings of a nationwide study on Social Media and Gambling among Young Adults in Cyprus, conducted by IMR/University of Nicosia™ on behalf of the National Betting Authority.
In today's digital environment, social media is far more than a communication channel. It influences behaviour, shapes perceptions and creates new challenges for regulators, policymakers and society alike.
Our research reveals the scale of young adults' exposure to gambling-related content across digital platforms and provides valuable evidence on how this exposure intersects with attitudes and participation. More importantly, it equips decision-makers with the insight needed to strengthen prevention strategies, support responsible gambling initiatives and develop policies grounded in evidence rather than assumptions.
At IMR, we believe research has its greatest impact when it extends beyond reporting findings. Its true value lies in informing national dialogue, supporting better public policy and providing institutions with the intelligence required to respond to emerging societal challenges.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the National Betting Authority for its trust and collaboration on this important initiative, and to the outstanding IMR team whose expertise, dedication and commitment to excellence made this research possible.
When society faces new challenges, evidence must lead the conversation. That is the role of research. That is the responsibility of IMR.
Data becomes powerful when it moves from insight to action.
