Today, I want to share with you a deep and powerful model that has transformed my approach to personal and professional development - Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (IFS) model 🌀
⠀
IFS offers a unique perspective on our inner world, dividing it into different sub-personalities:
⠀
1️⃣ Managers: These are our protectors, striving to maintain order and control to prevent pain and trauma. However, sometimes they can be too strict and critical.
⠀
📌 Role in business: Managers help you stay organised, efficient, and professional in your business relationships. They support your time management strategies, decision-making, and problem-solving.
⠀
📌 Development: By working on your internal managers, you can enhance your managerial skills, learn to better manage stress, and find healthier ways to handle criticism.
⠀
2️⃣ Exiles: They hold painful memories, emotions, and past traumas. They often feel abandoned or ignored, and their main longing is to be heard.
⠀
📌 Role in business: Unresolved issues with exiles can lead to decreased productivity, team conflicts, or even professional burnout.
⠀
📌 Development: Healing and integrating exiles can lead to deep personal and professional growth, improved team relationships, and increased job satisfaction.
⠀
3️⃣ Firefighters: They come to the rescue when the pain of exiles becomes unbearable. They may resort to drastic measures to distract us from the pain, which sometimes results in unproductive behavior.
⠀
📌 Role in business: Firefighters can manifest as impulsive decisions, conflict avoidance, desire to hide under the covers, and other forms of self-destructive behavior in stressful situations.
⠀
📌 Development: Working with your internal firefighters can help you develop healthier stress coping strategies, improve conflict management skills, and establish a more resilient business approach.
⠀
I am confident that implementing the IFS model can open new horizons of possibilities for you and bring significant benefits to your business journey 🌱
