Can laser seed treatments influence early crop growth? 🌱🔬

In collaboration with Ing. Jaroslav Skopal and RNDr. Jaroslav Wagner from Fytolaser, who are specialized in non-chemical laser treatment of agricultural crop seeds, we explored growth dynamics in sugar beet and rapeseed using the high-throughput PlantScreen™ Root System.

Using RGB imaging, we tracked root and shoot development to assess the impact of laser seed treatments on early growth development. Laser-treated seeds showed larger canopy development and root area, highlighting the potential of treatment to enhance germination, vitality, and crop resilience. 🌱

🔬Precision meets high throughput — meet the Inverted Flat FluorCam FC 1300-I/2020

If you're working with detached leaves, algae, cyanobacteria, or seedlings in Petri dishes or microtiter plates, this system will make your data cleaner and your workflow faster.

The FC 1300-I/2020 is designed specifically for flat samples — and it shows 👇

✔️ Supports both standard imaging and high-throughput experiments
✔️ Dedicated holders for square Petri dishes and microtiter plates (up to 384-well format)
✔️ Uniform bottom illumination = consistent excitation across the entire field
✔️ Reliable quantitative fluorescence measurements (no patchy data)
✔️ Field of view 120 × 120 mm
✔️ Integrated dark adaptation compartment for controlled measurements

No hacks. No workarounds. Just a system that does exactly what your experiment needs.

🔍 Fully equipped: high-resolution camera, FluorCam10 software, control PC

Optional upgrade:
🌈advanced multi-excitation for fluorescent protein imaging
🤖 Integrated data acquisition and analysis via PlantScreen™ pipeline.

👉 Bottom line: if you're scaling experiments or need reproducible fluorescence data across plates, this is worth your attention.

Tracking Barley above- and below-ground growth over time!

Understanding drought tolerance starts underground. Using RGB imaging, we monitored root growth under both well-watered and water-deficit conditions. Clear differences in root and shoot development can be observed over time at the early developmental stage. Plants continuously develop new roots under well-watered conditions, resulting in larger shoots, while this development becomes increasingly limited as drought stress intensifies. This work is done within the framework of the ongoing BarleyMicroBreed project, where we investigate dynamic root responses among different genotypes. 🌾
