I explained this yesterday. And today again. 😅
One of my favorite ways of explaining strategic branding is this:
👉 Building a brand is a lot like building a house. 👈
Before you choose the wallpaper, the furniture or the very specific shade of sage green for the kitchen, you need a foundation strong enough to hold the whole thing up.
In branding...
that foundation is your brand strategy.
It helps you decide what you want to stand for, who you want to reach, what you want to be known for, and what associations you want to build in people's minds.
Brand design comes later.
The logo, colors, typography, imagery and overall look and feel are incredibly important, but they'rm the part people can see. They bring the strategy to life, but they don't replace it.
So if your business feels difficult to explain, your messaging is all over the place, or you're not quite sure who you're trying to attract…
Maybe don't start by changing the wallpaper.
Check the foundations first. 🙂
