🔬 How do you sterilize a medical transport tray that cannot withstand autoclave temperatures?
That was the challenge in a recent project for reusable transport packaging (RTI) used for sensitive electronic components in medical devices.
Since the polystyrene trays can only withstand temperatures up to approximately 80°C, conventional steam sterilization was not an option. Together with our customer, we evaluated contamination types, cleaning methods, drying technologies, and required cleanliness levels before implementing a validated process including cleaning, double packaging, and gamma irradiation.
In the medical sector, achieving sterility is only one part of the equation. GMP-compliant processes, documentation, traceability, and regulatory requirements such as FDA specifications are equally critical.
A great example of how technical expertise and process know-how come together to ensure product safety and compliance.
