For us, it means anything that is of superior quality from the rest of a batch, or simply stands out with an interesting or unusual grain pattern and/or colour. We take the time for that whenever we cut new material so the “unicorns” don’t go to waste and find the right home.

Our newest addition are these colourful and highly flamed/figured sets or caribbean pernambucco. A dense and very beautiful wood often used in bowmaking, but it makes just as good of a tonewood for back and sides and looks fantastic under finish!

Here are some of our lightweight bodies: weymouth pine, roasted pine, european spruce, redwood, western red cedar and yellow cedar. All of them are a treat for musicians backs and a luthiers nose! With a demand for light and resonant bodies, these woods will deliver.
