We really didn’t want to make this post 💔

But if you’ve been wondering why you currently can’t order from ROYA to some European countries, this is why.

The new EU packaging rules are creating so much bureaucracy around packaging that small businesses like ours can end up buried in registrations, fees, reporting and different requirements from country to country.

And that’s the part that really gets us.

We want to sell across Europe. You want to buy from us. It is really that simple.

But as a small business, we can end up facing many of the same registration costs and administrative requirements as much bigger companies, even when we’re sending only a handful of orders to a country.

Instead, the system is becoming so complicated that small businesses are being forced to stop shipping to certain countries altogether.

We are absolutely behind sustainability. We want less waste and better packaging too 🌱 But there has to be a way to achieve that without making it almost impossible for small businesses to participate in the European market.

For now, our B2C shipping is limited to Germany, the Netherlands and countries outside the EU. For B2B, we’re still open to inquiries across Europe, so please reach out if you’d like to work with us. 🤍

There are discussions about changes to the rules, with a vote expected in October, so we’re really hoping there will be some good news.
