ENOS has a stated range. So why do we test it ourselves?

Because a range figure doesn't exist in isolation.

ENOS GPS Nautical uses a radio connection between the beacon at the surface and the receiver on board. How far that signal can be received depends not only on the system itself, but also on factors such as antenna height, line of sight, and conditions on the water.

That's why range testing matters.

By increasing the distance between the beacon and receiver and monitoring the connection, we can see how the system performs outside the workshop and better understand the factors that influence its effective range.

For equipment designed to help locate a diver who has surfaced away from the boat, that's knowledge worth having.

A specification tells you what a system can do. Testing helps you understand how it behaves in the real world.

Which analyzer is right for you?

An oxygen analyzer answers one question: how much O2 is in this gas.

A helium analyzer answers a different question. It measures helium content in mixed gases like Trimix, which only matters once your operation is blending for depths where oxygen alone can't tell the whole story.

If you handle Nitrox, oxygen is your analyzer. If you blend Trimix, you need helium measurement too, on top of oxygen, not instead of it.

Your filling hose works under pressure. Treat it accordingly.
A few simple habits can help reduce unnecessary wear and extend the working life of your filling hose:

1️⃣ Avoid tight bends and kinks
Don't force the hose into sharp angles during use or storage. Repeated bending can put unnecessary stress on the hose and its connections.
2️⃣ Depressurize before disconnecting
Never disconnect a filling hose while it is still under pressure. Close the supply and bleed the line according to the equipment manufacturer's procedure first.
3️⃣ Inspect it regularly

Check the hose, fittings and connections before use. Look for visible damage, abrasion, cracking, corrosion or anything that has changed since your last inspection.

Good hose care isn't complicated. It comes down to how you use it, store it and inspect it.

And remember: a filling hose is a high-pressure component. If you are unsure about its condition, don't take chances. Follow the manufacturer's inspection and replacement recommendations.
