Peace Dialogues for Ukraine: a safe space to turn our emotions into action.. In 2016, mid the so called ‘’refugee crisis’’ that brought over a million souls to Germany, we piloted the Peace Dialogues project together with Die Lernwerkstatt.
The purpose: to redefine peace as a human right and to go beyond our personal opinions to rediscover with empathy in ‘’the other’’ a person just like me.
We aimed not to discuss the politics of the conflicts, but to be a non-judgmental safe & brave space to foster the dialogue about our fears & emotions and to explore our role as fellow humans.
Safe because with empathy, inclusion and proper listening skills we feel more like sharing. Brave because with peer support we focus on what we can do to start making a change.
The current times call for the reactivation of the Peace Dialogues format.
We went through a pandemic. We thought that such a massive hit on humanity would teach us a lesson or two.
It seems like we haven’t learned.
Once again conflicts are rising around the globe. Some put brother against brother.
Migration flows of humans like you and me once again forced to leave everything behind.
In Ukraine. In Venezuela. In South Sudan. In Myanmar. In Syria. In Afghanistan. In Palestine.
Racism, propaganda & ‘’fake news’’ were never really gone. But they seem to be back again.
And it is complicated to understand why governments react so slowly.
I know.
As a Specialist in Human Rights & Peace Education, believe me, I know.
Join me for a new edition of the Peace Dialogues, in a joint collaboration between Alreal Consulting & Die Lernwerkstatt.
