Last week I had the great pleasure to attend the OECD conference "Culture and Creativity for Local Development" in Venice. I am very happy to witness OECD´s increasing interest on the cultural and creative sector as powerfull vectors for inclusive growth and development in different dimensions.

Having developed my thesis about The Role of Cultural and Creative Clusters in Local Development I know how challanging is to collect and analyse qualitative and mainly quantitative data. While my thesis is being prepared to be launched in a report version, please have a look at.

Opinion on Museu Nacional Fire

Dear Friends, deeply sad but I need share my solidarity with the brave workers and researchers of Museu Nacional. I also want to say sorry to the world for having destroyed a significant part of the world history.

I don’t even know how to start; we lost a considerable part of our soul. All the policy-makers and politicians want to be supportive now but the fact is: despite all the efforts of its workers and researchers, alerts from cultural workers and mass media, crowd funding process, the Museum was never given its real importance and never received adequate support.

Political negligence and financial crises burned the house of one King, two Emperors, and TWENTY MILLION items and 200 years of history turned this year. The Brazilian National Bank of Development- BNDES signed a sponsorship agreement in June in the amount of R$ 21.7 million, too late. The tragedy was the culmination of a “Chronicle of an announced death”, death which is surrounding our tangible patrimony as whole.

There has been an urgent need for authorities to review the way we are treating our patrimony. It is not only the lack of financial resource; it is lack of planning and strategy. No matter the political and economic crises, our patrimony needs to be preserved. It is time to consider developing a real risk analyzes. It is vital to reconstruct the Museu Nacional also reviewing its management model.

It is important now to enhance not only a national but also international able to contribute to its reestablishment. Once more I am available to take part in financial and technical efforts as I have done on other occasions.

Today starts the Folkloric Festival in the world. The Parintins festival in Amazon. The Parintins Festival is a popular festival held annually on the last weekend of June in the city of Parintins, Amazonas.

The festival is an open-air presentation of several folkloric associations, the most important point of the event today being the dispute between two folkloric bulls, the Blue Bull Caprichoso and the Red Bull- Garantido.

The presentation takes place in the Bumbódromo, a type of stadium in the shape of a stylized bull's head, with capacity for 35 thousand spectators. The Parintins Festival has become one of the biggest attractions of Latin American culture. During the three nights of presentation, the two associations explore the regional themes such as legends, indigenous rituals and customs of the riverside through allegories and scenarios.

I was very proud to see my picture exhibited in the –thefreelancers’cooperative annual meeting yesterday evening. SMart is a cooperative dedicated to the needs of all freelancers.

Without creating their own , can´t work within legally secured framework; stay autonomous, and on the , while the best social protection possible. Worldwide, most of are freelancers or even informal workers. In this context, Smart cooperative plays a huge role in Europe. Currently present in , Smart cooperative has made the dreams of creative works like me come true and for sure it is a “Best Practice” to be adopted/ expanded to other countries.

Cooperatives like such are vectors to take out creative workers from the informal economy by providing them information, assuring their rights and opening up possibilities for growth. I am a proud member of the cooperative here in Germany since the beginning of 2017 and we are growing!

Check it out Smart´s website, perhaps you have an office next to you!

Last week I had the great pleasure to be in the audience in the event "I am young and need money" promoted by the berlin / GmbH to talk about for ethnic groups in Germany.

In my experience as a helping governments and institutions worldwide to improve their funding schemes through services such as and ; I have experienced how important it is to give to the funded projects instead of just releasing the money and receive the receipts. Despite their acknowledge capacities, when it comes to young and marginalized people, these groups often lack of skills, means and tools to boost even more their projects and potential outcomes.

For more information about funding opportunities in Germany, please have a look in this amazing portal: https://www.kulturfoerderpunkt-berlin.de/home/

The Cambinda Estrela Cultural Centre in Recife- Brazil celebrates the IV Afro-Brazilian Arts Festival! As a result of a development designed by PA- International Relations and Cultural Affairs Consultancy and local cultural managers; the festival has been strengthening the branding of Chão de Estrelas community. Located in the suburbs of Recife, the community has been the cradle of important groups and cultural movements especially for the Brazilian Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian Cultural scenes. Despite its importance as a cultural and creative cluster, hub, quarter, corridor or whatever else denomination the neighborhood would gain if it were place in the first world), the area has been portrayed negatively on the media as a violent place (consequence of the huge socioeconomic inequality of Recife/Brazil).

It can seems something basic, but do you know how much important it is for locals to see their community´s name circulating in the most important newspaper in their state attached to something positive!

For me, has a lot to do with ; it is not only about regenerating buildings/images but also regenerating the grass-roots/feelings.

In my visit to Rich Mix London an East London’s independent arts centre, I had the great pleasure to meet the CEO Eddie Berg and Rich Mix team. After the presentation of "Rich Mix impact of public investment in 2016-2017" , I got very attract by the fact that the Rich Mix has its cinema as the main income generator.

Even with advent of Netlix and other online platforms, Rich Mix has an average of 3.400 cinema screenings per year with around 147.000 annual admissions. So what are the reasons behind?

-Cheaper tickets with an average price of £ 8.32,

-Comfortable armchairs (it´s like being at home watching a movie in our sofa),

- Hard work to over the years to give access to its neighbor’s communities,

- Efforts to create a sense of placer ownership to these communities by working with 27 schools, 2,176 local children and 29 community groups,

- The creation a broader community of loyal visitors/consumers from all over London.

Have you been to local cinema recently? Have felt it like an extension of your own room?

Through my consultant lenses, the conclusion I take is that the Rich Mix as a very good case of success that worths visiting! So have a look at:

During the last 4 months, I have been involved as a consultant in a British Council and Newtown Fund programme aimed at boosting the creative economy in socioeconomic vulnerable areas in Brazil. As part of the overall programme, I had last week the amazing experience to be involved in an immersion trip in London along with a group of creative economy entrepreneurs, stakeholders and policymakers.

The group which had members from 5 Brazilian states Alagoas, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo took part in activities such as The Creative Economy Exchange Brazil UK conference, visited creative clusters and the Greater London Authority.

I felt very pleased to perceive that both sides could really learn from each other. That´s my drive, develop research and consultancy with a very clear purpose: make the creative and cultural sector a real vector for socioeconomic development. Furthermore, I would like to thanks the partners British Council British Council Brasil, Sebrae, Adesampa People's Palace Projects Queen Mary University of London

All the institutions are making endeavors to work with creative economy in a holistic way, also acknowledging its environmental and educational dimensions!
