Congratulations to the author of “Enantioselective isothiourea-catalyzed α-fluorination of activated esters” for her impressive work on developing a practical method for creating fluorinated organic compounds. Fluorine is an important element in modern pharmaceuticals because it improves drug stability, bioavailability, and fat solubility, making it a key component in more than 25% of all drugs.

This work presents a solution by using special chiral catalysts called isothioureas and the fluorine source N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI). Under mild and metal-free conditions, this method allows the efficient synthesis of highly pure α-fluorinated compounds with excellent selectivity. Polarimetry was used in this study to accurately measure the optical rotation of the chiral products, confirming their stereochemistry and high enantiomeric purity.

These results demonstrate how Lewis base catalysis can provide a powerful and practical approach for creating fluorine-containing molecules with significant potential in pharmaceutical research.

Thank you for using our UniPol L 1000 Digital Polarimeter to measure the optical rotation of the chiral products. We wish you every success for your further research!

Congratulations to the authors of "Fine-tuning equilibrium water content and mechanical properties of acrylic-based copolymers for intraocular lens applications" from Turkey and Romania for their innovative work in improving eye implant materials. The authors developed new plastic materials (copolymers) that could be used in artificial lenses for cataract surgery.

These materials were made by mixing two different kinds of building blocks: one that attracts water (called HEA) and one that repels it (called EEEA). By changing the mix of these ingredients, the team was able to control how much water the material absorbs, how flexible it is, and how it interacts with light. Their study showed that more HEA makes the material softer, more flexible, and able to hold more water. It also slightly lowers the material’s ability to bend light, which is important for seeing clearly.

This research is significant as it contributes to the development of safer, more advanced, and customizable intraocular lenses for patients undergoing cataract surgery. By fine-tuning material properties, clinicians may offer lens implants that are better tailored to individual patient needs.

Thank you for using our ATR L Spectral-Refractometer to measure the RI of the different formulations of the copolymers at 37 °C and at wavelengths of 480, 545, 590 to 660 nm. We wish you every success for your further research!

Congratulations to the author of "Exploring Chirality in Molecular Motors and Switches" from the Netherlands for his innovative work toward the PhD degree. Tiny molecular motors are designed to rotate in one direction when exposed to light and are crucial for building dynamic systems at the molecular level.

The author created a smart way to change the motor’s rotation by adding or moving methyl groups. Even small changes in their structure made a big difference in how fast the motors turned and even in which direction they rotated.

Two types of motors were made: M1 has two methyl groups close to the center, and M2 has one. M1 was slower but showed strong one-way rotation. M2 rotated about 50 times faster and also stayed stable, switching between two states quickly and cleanly.

This work is important because it shows new ways to design molecular machines that are simple, fast, and reliable, with better control over their movement. These molecular motors could be used in the future to power nanomachines, design smart materials, or help deliver drugs in a targeted way.

Thank you for using our Polartronic MH8 High-Performance Circle Polarimeter to measure the optical rotation of the newly synthesized compounds in a 10 cm cell at 20°C and a wavelength of 589 nm. We wish you every success for your further research!

Congratulations to the authors of " Comprehensive Quality Assessment of Dittrichia viscosa (L.) from Southeast Morocco: Physicochemical Properties, Phytochemical Composition, Microbiological Profile and Mineral Content Analysis" for their valuable contribution to understanding the quality of the plant Dittrichia viscosa. This medicinal plant is known for its therapeutic properties and is widely used in folk medicine.

The authors conducted a thorough quality assessment of the plant by analyzing its physicochemical properties, phytochemical composition, mineral content, and microbiological profile. They extracted essential oils and various solvent-based extracts from the plant and evaluated their composition and quality. Their study showed that the hydroethanol extract contained the highest levels of polyphenols and tannins, while the cyclohexane extract had the highest flavonoid content. However, the mineral analysis revealed an elevated level of cadmium, exceeding recommended limits, which calls for caution in the medicinal use of this plant.

This work is significant because it provides the first comprehensive quality profile of D. viscosa from Southeast Morocco, helping to ensure the safe use of this plant in traditional and modern medicine.

Thank you for using our Polarimeter to measure the optical rotation of the EO of D.viscosa with a 2 dm tube at 20 °C and a sodium D-line light source. We wish you every success for your further research!
