EMACO Swing Check Valve, Preventing Reverse Flow in Fire Water Systems
In a fire protection network, water needs to move in the intended direction. Reverse flow can affect pump performance, disturb system pressure, and potentially compromise other parts of the water network.
The EMACO Swing Check Valve is designed to allow water to flow in one direction while automatically closing when the flow reverses. Its swing-type disc responds to changes in flow, providing passive backflow protection without requiring manual operation.
Swing check valves are commonly installed in locations such as fire pump discharge lines, risers, hydrant networks, and other fire water distribution pipelines where preventing reverse flow is important.
For reliable operation, installation should consider the required flow direction, valve orientation, pipeline alignment, and accessibility for inspection. Regular inspection also helps identify wear, debris accumulation, or sealing issues that could affect valve performance.
A check valve may operate without manual intervention, but its correct selection, installation, and maintenance are important parts of maintaining a dependable firewater system.
BSEP Europe supplies EMACO fire protection components, including swing check valves, for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure applications across Europe.
