The 4 ProSEco business cases have worked hard with the support of the ProSEco consortium to produce the project demonstrators, a set of case studies, document and videos validating, demonstrating and presenting the ProSEco prototypes within the business cases. ProSEco has been present at the Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems (FedCSIS 2017) which was held in Prague, Czech Republic on 3rd-6th September. The paper titled “Application of a process improvement method for improving usability” has been presented at the 1st International Conference on Lean and Agile Software Development (LASD'17) which was part of FedCSIS 2017. The objective of LASD'17 is to extend the state-of-the-art in lean and agile software development by providing a platform at which industry practitioners and academic researchers can meet and learn from each other.

Several ProSEco partners (Electrolux, ATB, Uninova, CNU) attended in Teheran the Second International Conference on Fourth Industrial Revolution on February 27th and 28th. A challenge for Product Extension Service (PES) design is the integration of ambient intelligence and human general intelligence within overall systems. An example would be an end-user loading a fridge / freezer in such a way as to enable nutritional information on food packaging to be machine read. The ProSEco project together with the DIVERSITY and the SAFIRE project, have supported a joint session in the INDIN 2017 conference in Emden, Germany that went from 24th to 26st of July 2017. The joint session, with the title “Integrating Cloud Technologies, Context Sensitive tools and Data Mining for Design of Product-Service Systems” was a good opportunity to present the work being done in in the projects ProSEco, DIVERSITY and SAFIRE and hearing from several other projects with work in the same topic.

If we have in mind the diffusion of innovations theory (Everett M. Rogers) finding innovators or early adopters is key. The innovation must be widely adopted in order to self-sustain; a critical mass of users must be reached. In the case of ProSEco project, several industrial partners (Electrolux, Desma, Volkswagen, Ona, Alberdi) are acting as test-bed for the research results and a showcase for the project results. New technologies are enabling individuals to have more input into ideation, design, production, and distribution of physical goods. For example, the Internet of Things can enable individuals to combine sensors etc., with mass produced and mass custom goods in order to create new types of environments - however they imagine them to be. For example, there are now Wi-Fi enabled light bulbs that can be configured in almost infinite varieties of original unique lighting scenes; and can be controlled by voice, SMS, tweet and so on.
