Opportunities for European and Latin American trading companies through the new EU-Mercosur agreement

After 25 years of intensive negotiations, the free trade agreement between the EU and the so-called Mercosur states of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay was finally concluded recently. We mourn the loss of our senior partner Carl Richard Bünemann. He led our family business in the third generation for over 63 years and made it what it is today. His mark is indelible, we will always remember him and cherish his memory.

He was a shining example to all employees and business partners of Schütte & Bünemann, a mentor and friend with a great entrepreneurial spirit and an inimitable personality.

Carl Richard had the foresight to arrange the company succession while he was still alive, so that his legacy can be continued in his spirit.

Not particularly large, but important: this is the actuator for a printing press from the long-established Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. The part is used, for example, to drive the format adjustment in the delivery. We recently made sure that it was packed quickly and safely and sent on its long journey to Peru, where it will be used by a large printing company in the future. 🇵🇪

🚢 Printing plant spare parts, regardless of size, are part of our core business, just like the export of machinery, industrial equipment, marine equipment and spare parts for ships, maritime units and industrial companies. And we pull out all the stops to get the products to our customers smoothly and on time. ⏰

Export control is as much a part of our work as coffee is of the morning! ☕

Just imagine if special equipment and components could become a danger in the hands of the wrong people. To prevent this, there is control, so that goods are only used by the right people and companies for their intended purpose.

Our Purchasing & Sales Assistant Katherine Colmenares recently attended a training course to deepen her knowledge. With new tools and the latest legal framework in place, we can now handle the export of goods even more efficiently. 🌍

👉 For Arauco, among other things we take care of the export from Germany, the paperwork, the handover of the goods to the forwarder and the packaging. We also collect goods from various manufacturers for Arauco in our warehouse and send them out together to reduce freight costs.

The international trade fair SMM Hamburg ("Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology") will take place in Hamburg from September 3 to 6, 2024. With around 40,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors from over 120 countries, is the world's leading trade fair and conference event for the maritime industry.🛳️

Weighing over eight tonnes and more than three metres long, this motor has just started its journey from Shanghai to Chile. When our customer from the energy sector recently approached us, we pulled out all the stops to customise the system and deliver it on time.

From Bremen via Argentina to Chile: our Managing Director Simon Bünemann has been on the road a lot in recent weeks.

When visiting our Latin American customers and partners, the main focus was on our individual service in the procurement and transportation of important industrial and marine equipment, spare parts and plant systems across the entire supply chain.
"Different import and export regulations, specific supply chains and customer requirements require in-depth knowledge of local conditions," explains Simon Bünemann. In this respect, even direct contact cannot be replaced by modern technologies alone.

We are delighted that we have been able to continue this important tradition of on-site visits. Our company history has always been closely linked to Latin America; regular trips there are part of how we see ourselves and how we want to work. It's great that this personal contact has never been broken off!

Getting the best prices from suppliers and manufacturers, preparing proposals, accepting orders and processing them successfully: Katherine Colmenares has only been part of our team since March, but it's already hard to imagine working without her. 💪

In her home country of Venezuela, Katherine already worked in the areas of import, export, raw material procurement, sales and logistics before venturing to Germany due to the difficult political situation. 🇻🇪 🇩🇪

👉 After completing her apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade, specialising in wholesale, in Cologne, Katherine moved to Bremen especially for Schütte & Bünemann.

When we get a call, it mostly has to be quick: A ship in Asia is at a standstill and waiting for urgently needed ship equipment, a printing company in South America cannot continue production without a certain spare part 🛳️🔩.

If the desired product then arrives damaged, fast and efficient complaints management is required. “As a quality service provider, we often export small items of high value that are needed quickly on the other side of the world,” explains our Managing Director Simon Sebastian Bünemann. ⏳

👉 That's why we have built up a comprehensive complaints management system in recent years: Starting with manual checks at our own warehouse locations, listing and visual documentation, selecting the right partners, suppliers and manufacturers, through to process optimization and close support from dedicated contacts. 🗣️

As a result, the number of complaints has been significantly reduced in recent years. “The goal is clear: we want to reduce complaints to zero,” says Simon. 📉
