With summer approaching, many gardens are getting more attention. ☀️

For many consumers, lawn protection is becoming an increasingly important factor when choosing a robotic lawn mower.🌱

With the new “Lawn Care” certification, TÜV Rheinland introduces expanded testing criteria to evaluate mowing quality and gentle lawn treatment under realistic conditions.

The certification assesses factors such as:
🌱 Cutting quality
↔️ Performance on slopes
🌿 Lawn treatment in demanding garden conditions

What comes to mind when you hear “Jupiter”? The planet, or Europe’s fastest supercomputer? Here at TÜV Rheinland, we’re thinking more about computational operations than planets these days. That’s because our latest “future in.sight” lecture series focused on JUPITER at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. It’s significantly accelerating AI research.

Why are we looking into this? As an independent service provider, we lay the foundation for secure, future-oriented solutions. With expertise, objectivity, and the highest standards, we support technological change worldwide and strengthen trust in innovation. That is why we aim to provide insights into relevant future topics for our employees and TÜV Rheinland e.V. members.

Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. 🤝 A reminder that safety is not written in rules alone, but in the way we notice, decide, and act every day.

At TÜV Rheinland, safety means taking care of each other. It is a mindset that connects people across every location, every team, every role.

Across our global sites from Thailand to Hungary, from China to Brazil, from Argentina to Cologne, we are making these stories visible. Because a strong safety culture depends on sharing them, learning from them, and talking about what happens in everyday work moments that often go unseen. 🌍

These are stories of people who notice before something happens, who question routines, and who turn small actions into real impact. 💙

Because safety culture is built in everyday moments, and it grows when we make them visible and keep the conversation going.

Felix Neureuther receives the 7th International TÜV Rheinland Global Compact Award. 🏆

The former alpine ski racer is being honored for his long-standing commitment to education, movement, health, and environmental protection.

The award recognizes his dedication to children and sustainable development in winter sports and the Alpine region. Through the Felix Neureuther Foundation, the movement and education program “Beweg dich schlau! Ein Program der Felix Neureuther Stiftung”, and the “Naturhelden” project, he promotes early engagement of children with physical activity, health, and environmental stewardship.

Neureuther has also been actively involved in protecting alpine ecosystems for many years. As a BRS Conventions Advocate for Clean Mountains and Glaciers, he raises awareness of the impact of climate change on the Alps and winter sports. His efforts support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the principles of the UN Global Compact.

➡️ The International TÜV Rheinland Global Compact Award, presented by the TÜV Rheinland Foundation, honors people committed to sustainability and social responsibility. Previous recipients include Reinhold Messner, Dr. Auma Obama, and Professor Antje Boetius.

The award will be presented on October 1 at Cologne’s Historic City Hall. The TÜV Rheinland Foundation and Cologne’s Mayor, Torsten Burmester, will host guests from politics, business, science, and culture for the event.

Sometimes a small idea can make a big difference for safety. 🛗

During our Global Safety Week, we share personal stories from colleagues around the world. They show how safety culture comes to life through awareness, responsibility, and practical improvements.

One story comes from Tobias Winzen. He is an elevator inspection expert. During elevator inspections, different hazards can arise – especially when checking elevator ropes. If inspectors get too close to the moving traction sheave, fingers could get caught or crushed.

➡️ With his background as a development engineer, Tobias came up with a solution. He designed a 3D-printed inspection rod with built-in safety features to create more distance from moving parts during inspections.

➡️ He built the prototype himself using a CAD program and a 3D printer, tested it with colleagues, and improved the design based on their feedback. Once the final version was ready, he submitted the idea through TÜV Rheinland’s idea management system.

Turns out: His idea is now being implemented. By doing this, Tobias has made his own work and the work of his colleagues safer.

Because we care. 🤝

A near-miss during vehicle testing reminded that even small details can make a big difference when it comes to safety. 🚘

During Global Safety Week, colleagues from around the world share personal safety stories, showing how careful planning and vigilance turn safety into reality.

➡️ One story comes from Bálint Tóth, who has been managing the TÜV Rheinland and KTI branch office at the ZalaZONE proving ground in Hungary since its establishment in 2020.

During ABS testing on a vehicle with race-optimized but EU-certified tires, the car started to skid. To investigate further, the team tested it on basalt and ceramic surfaces, which are very slippery. During braking, the vehicle completely lost control and spun.

All drivers, including Bálint, have training and the appropriate driving licenses, so he was able to handle the car safely after the spin. Nevertheless, the situation was a bit scary at the beginning.

➡️The incident taught Bálint and the team that routine safety measures alone are not enough. Every step must be carefully considered, risks anticipated, and safety procedures continuously updated, especially with new vehicle models.
