www.nordwerk.co Was wir machen ... ist Müll! Zumindest war es mal Müll. Man kann nie wissen! Alles verfällt einmal!

Und mit hoher wahrscheinlichkeit
wird es auch wieder Müll werden. In der Zwischenzeit
aber machen wir etwas anderes daraus. Wir stellen
Möbel, Ausbauten, Installationen - oder auch mal einen
Löwen - aus ebenen Abfallwerkstoffen her.

jedes Einzelteil gut transportierbar. Was wir verwenden
auszuprobieren. Ihr Nordwerk Design-Team

We are thrilled to announce that at PRINTING United Expo 2025 in Orlando we won the Award for "Best of Expo 2025" in our category for the booth we created for and with Theresa Zurn from Zurn Visual.

The booth was made on a footprint of 10x20ft / 3x6m with a height of 10ft / 3m.

It was fully made of Re-board Technology's paperboard and was put up in only one and a half days. Since Re-board is a very efficient material to work with we were able to realize this custom design from the first sketch to the final stand on site in only 19 days, which is almost impossible in traditional materials.

We want to thank ITC Cutting Edge from Dallas for the excellent job cutting and printing the material. Quality of this kind is not self-understood and we truly appreciate it!

After the show the booth was fully(!) recycled (with the exception of the carpet)

We did it again! Creating the exhibition for Disney's anniversary of celebrating 30 Years on Broadway!

As always there is a lot to say about this. But we need to ask for your patience since we want to talk more about what paper can do in the future and this project - along with others - will be a case study. For now we only want to show you the pictures and what we did there at Epcot in Disney World, Florida.

“Alien: Romulus” Echo Probe

We at Nordwerk Design, together with Chris Gilmour from The Vectar Project built the "Echo Probe" for opening scene of the recently released 20th Century Fox Movie “Alien: Romulus”. Chris took care of the interior of the probe while I created the chassis; based on interior designs provided by the production company. The probe was completely made of Re-board Technology material, constructed, cut and pre-assembled in Manchester, UK and shipped to Budapest, Hungary for final assembly.

Creating the multiple-part chassis from scratch to final delivery only took 11 days, since my work schedule wouldn’t allow me to go to Manchester earlier. But thanks to the outstanding material (Re-board), the efficient partnership with Chris and great cutting technology (the probe was fully cut on a Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems Table), we managed to get it done in time and even had time for a pint or two.

The photos only show parts of our work since the probe was made of multiple pieces for filming purposes. All of Chris’ elements were integrated into the designated openings in the chassis, which in it of itself consisted of 4 main parts (2 top parts, a bottom frame and the bottom) and several smaller parts.
After final assembly in Budapest the probe was equipped with monitors, lights and a robot in the middle by the team in Hungary.

And last but not least: Working with Chris was truly a joy. I personally admire his work greatly! It is not often that I get to work with an artist of such magnitude and dedication to detail. Thank you Chris and your amazing team!

Please go and see it for yourself in cinemas around the world :-)

At Drupa we built this “Parasol” for Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, fully made of Re-board Technology cardboard. And it turned out fantastic!

We love the Kongsberg machines and we love the Re-board material. The combination of the two is what we always use to create our designs, regardless where in the world we are. And for good reasons!

Not only is this Parasol fully recyclable due to the material, we also didn’t use any screws or glue. And also, all of it was cut with only a single blade on the Kongsberg table, which is stunning!

If you are at in Düsseldorf, come and see it your self in Hall 8a ☺️

Presenting the "Kanagawa Prototype 1" (out of 2).

“The Great Wave off Kanagawa” is a Japanese masterpiece, created in 1831 by Katsushika Hokusai. The artwork has already been interpreted in many different ways; this is our take on it, using cardboard.
This design is the first of 2 we made, not for a client, but for us to test and play.

It marks a shift in our working process, since for the first time we also created all graphics along with the design. Since graphical work can be tricky, we usually gave it our to external partners. But often this process was inconvenient for our clients and often expensive. Therefore we started developing it in-house. These are the first results.

We will publish "Kanagawa Prototype 2” soon.

FREE T-REX

If you pick it up tomorrow night when IDS Vancouver ends, it is yours! For free. All you need to do is to promise to give it a good home ☺️

The T-Rex is fully made of recycled cardboard and therefore is fully recyclable. Also there are no tools or glue needed to build it ☺️

To us, every project is special. But some projects are more special than others!
This time we worked with Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems on their booth at FESPA 2023 in Munich, Germany. And what makes this so special to us is the fact that we at Nordwerk Design are using Kongsberg Cutting Tables ourselves, making it easily possible to achieve the high quality in production our line of work requires. Because cutting designs of this kind are demanding in terms of precision and speed.
In that regard it was a joy to design and build this booth!

Hoping to see you at FESPA in Hall A1!

Cardboard Sound Panels!
We have been working on a solution to absorb sound in a fun and funky way. And after countless iterations we came up with this solution, which we are testing right now.

Since we haven’t posted in a while, we wanted to share this with you 😊

This simply is the ugly truth about trade shows and events: The amount of waste usually is beyond imagination! But since clients and visitors usually don't see it, there is only little understanding when it comes to the need of creating sustainable events.
When looking at a finished booth, it almost like holding your new, shiny, favourite product in your hands and totally forget that it came wrapped in loads of plastics.

And yes, even we - offering a completely recyclable solution for walls, furniture and architecture - face struggles. Flooring is a large part of the problem, for example. Luckily, change is happening.

But it is slow! And I wished that corporate professionals who are in charge of trade shows would just stay one day longer when the show is over, having a look at what is happening in terms of unrecyclable waste behind the scenes. If that was the case, we'd be a lot further with green events and actual sustainability.
