The ZELLMECHANIK DRESDEN GmbH develops, produces & distributes a reseach device called AcCellerator to analyze mechanical properties of biological cells.

ZELLMECHANIK DRESDEN is a high-tech spin-off of the Technische Universität Dresden. We are a team of researchers and business experts that develops, produces and distributes a research device to measure mechanical properties of biological single cells: the AcCellerator. Cellmechanical properties depend on the intrinsic cell structure which often become altered as soon as changes in cell function occur. For example, cells become softer during malignant transformation and stiffer during differentiation. Over the last years, we developed a new, patent-protected concept - real-time deformability cytometry (RT-DC) - to measure mechanical properties of heterogeneous cell populations at rates of several hundred cells per second in real-time. The technmological development was performed in close collaboration with the lab of Professor Jochen Guck at the BIOTEC institute of TU Dresden. Our current customers are basic and clinical scientists in Germany and Europe with various cell-biological research questions. Our vision is to establish RT-DC as standard application in modern drug development and medical diagnostics.
