Do you know what oldtimer means in English? 👇

An elderly person.

Old-timers enjoy driving classic cars.

So you don't take an old-timer to the mechanic, unless they need to pick up their classic car.

Do you know the difference between:
Vintage cars / Classic cars / Antique cars ?

Yep. That's still talking about the present 👇

▶ "I have worked here for 10 years." - I still work here.
(Ich arbeite hier seit 10 Jahren)

▶ "I have played piano for 33 years." - I still play piano.
(Ich spiele seit 33 Jahren Klavier.)

▶ "I have studied German for 9 years." - I still study German.
(Ich lerne seit 9 Jahren Deutsch.)

Want to change them all to the past simple?
Easy. Just delete the "have".
Now they're all finished actions in the past.

▶ "I studied German for 9 years." - I don't study German now.
(Ich habe 9 Jahre lang Deutsch gelernt.)
