BYD is opening its German headquarters in Stadt Offenbach — joining a region that has quietly built one of Europe's most significant automotive ecosystems. The new location at Strahlenbergstraße brings together showroom, sales, and a full operational base for BYD's German market expansion.

This is not a coincidence. More than 50,000 people work in the automotive sector across Frankfurt RheinMain. Kia, Hyundai, Honda, and other global manufacturers have long chosen our region for their European design, development, and management functions. BYD adds another dimension to this cluster — one defined by the future of electric mobility.

What makes Frankfurt RheinMain a consistent choice for international automotive leaders is the combination of central location, international talent, strong infrastructure, and an interconnected business community. BYD recognised exactly that. Proximity to Frankfurt Airport, motorway access, and a deeply embedded international network made Offenbach the clear answer.

With 120 employees at launch and expansion plans already in motion, this is the beginning of a longer story — one that strengthens our region's position at the crossroads of global automotive transformation.

This settlement was supported together with Wirtschaftsförderung Offenbach — a partnership that reflects how our region works best.

During the Ausbildungsmesse hosted by Offenbacher Fußball Club Kickers 1901 GmbH, Offenbach brought together businesses, young people, and concrete career opportunities in one place.

The first edition of the fair welcomed a wide range of companies to the club’s grounds — underlining how strongly the city and the region are currently developing as a place to live, learn, and work.

On the sidelines of the event, we spoke with the club’s CEO Florian Holzbrecher about sustainable development, youth pathways, and why a football club’s role in the region goes far beyond the pitch.

Frankfurt RheinMain. The Reception — Davos 2026

On the occasion of the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, we were pleased to once again host “Frankfurt RheinMain. The Reception” – an event that represented the region during Davos Week and provided a space for dialogue and exchange.

This year’s reception marked an important moment for the region. Lars Klingbeil, Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and Federal Minister of Finance, addressed the guests and shared perspectives on Germany’s economic development and the role of strong regions such as Frankfurt RheinMain.

A central element of the evening was the panel discussion with representatives from politics, finance, and science:
Carsten Schneider, Federal Minister for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety,
Joachim Nagel, President of the Deutsche Bundesbank,
Souad Benkredda, Member of the Board of DZ BANK, and
Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency.

The discussion was moderated by journalist and presenter Astrid Frohloff.

The conversation focused on current economic challenges, the role of the Frankfurt financial centre, and the growing strategic importance of space and satellite infrastructure — including the long-standing presence of European Space Agency - ESA in Darmstadt and its relevance for Frankfurt RheinMain.

We were pleased to welcome Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, who attended the reception for the third time. For the first time, two ESA astronauts joined the event: Samantha Cristoforetti and Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski.

Frankfurt RheinMain was represented in Davos by Mike Josef, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FRM GmbH, alongside representatives from cities, districts, chambers of commerce, and regional institutions — reflecting the breadth and cooperation of the region.

The reception was supported by Stadt Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt Main Finance, DZ BANK AG, and the FAZ.NET - Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. We were also pleased to welcome Digital Realty as a new partner.

“Frankfurt RheinMain. The Reception” has become a regular point of reference during Davos week — bringing regional perspectives into international discussions and strengthening long-term connections.

Representing Frankfurt RheinMain in Davos means engaging in dialogue, building trust, and turning global exchange into tangible opportunities for the region.
