BBC News Africa created this great series in 2020.

It's based on a UNESCO project "known as the GHA: the General History of Africa - Africa’s history, culture, and heritage written and told by Africans themselves."

(This book series is still on my wish list 🤓 )

Hosted by the legendary bilingual Sudanese Brit journalist Zeinab Badawi.

Freelancers, don't schedule yourself to death!

In case you didn't know, freelancers used to be warriors for hire. A lance is like a stick with a pointy end😅

They needed time to work for clients, train, AND REST!

Freelancers today need the same.

And just like warriors, we don't have to work 9-5.

I usually do deep work 2 PM - 10 PM Mondays and W-F.

Tuesdays are left open for errands and work emergencies. (I had to use it this week to finish a rush job😅)

Saturday is for volunteer work and friends.

Sunday is family time to recharge and think.

So my "weekend" is Tuesdays and Sundays.

Weekends as Saturdays and Sundays were invented during the Industrial Revolution.

But that's a story for another post🤓

How do you protect the "blank space" on your calendar?

Having a about EVERYTHING is difficult! I have gained 50 lbs (25 kilos) since I moved to Germany in August 2019

10 from moving to another continent
10 from getting married
10 from a miscarriage
10 from
10 from

I was really annoyed with myself this weekend thinking...

'I'll never get back to where I was.'
'I can't believe I got to this point.'
'Where do I even start?'

My husband and my dad Gean Van Horn are helping me to undo this thinking little by little.

I have survived a lot in the last 24 months with their help.

With my , I can and I will get back to a one step at a time.
