🌍 🎉 Sustainability success in Ann Arbor: Our site in Michigan has been awarded Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizing its high standards in sustainable design and energy efficiency.

This internationally recognized certification reflects our commitment to energy-efficient operations, responsible resource use, and sustainable construction. At our Center of Excellence for Bioanalytics in Ann Arbor, this comes to life through:

✅ Low-emission building materials

✅ On-site solar power generation

✅ Advanced energy systems with air filtration and CO₂ monitoring

✅ EV charging infrastructure and LED lighting

✅ Smart water management, including a stormwater runoff pond

The LEED Gold certification represents a significant milestone for our Ann Arbor site and contributes to our ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.

🎙️ "We need to be disruptive. Fifteen to twenty years ago, a client told me: 'There will never be a plastic bag in our facility.' Today, it’s the standard."

René Fáber, Head of the Bioprocess Solutions Division and member of the Sartorius Executive Board, recently joined the Molecule to Market podcast to discuss the state of our industry and where he thinks it is heading with host Raman Sehgal.

In the episode, he talks about his unexpected career path to the Executive Board of Sartorius and outlines a fundamental shift in bioprocessing: the transition from established biologics to advanced therapies such as RNA-based approaches and cell and gene therapies. While these modalities are often still seen as too complex and costly, he draws a clear parallel to the early days of single-use technologies – initially questioned, but ultimately becoming the industry standard once scalability and reliability were demonstrated.

No matter how much innovation happens, he believes one principle remains the same:

"You never change your focus on customers. If you genuinely focus on them, you are forced to change with time. Their needs evolve, new modalities emerge, technologies advance. And if you want to remain a true partner, you must keep moving, innovating and challenging the status quo."

Annual Scholarship Meeting: Insights, inspiration and new connections 🤝🏭

How does Sartorius simplify progress to help realize better therapies and affordable medicine? How are filters produced? And what can career paths at our company look like?

Six recipients of the Sartorius Scholarship and the “Deutschlandstipendium” (German Scholarship) explored these questions during their visit to the Sartorius Campus in Göttingen.

The program featured presentations and discussions with colleagues from Product Development, Product Management, and Recruiting, along with a testimonial from a former scholar and a campus tour.

Julian Hubel joined our scholarship meeting for the first time:
🗨️ “The event was a great opportunity to get to know different departments, gain a better understanding of their work, make valuable contacts, and gather initial ideas for my practical project and master’s thesis.”

👉 Sartorius Scholarship
Designed for ambitious master’s students in the natural sciences and engineering, the scholarship offers financial support, valuable contacts, and the opportunity to complete internships and thesis projects at Sartorius.

👉 Deutschlandstipendium
This scholarship supports students with outstanding academic achievements and social engagement, for example in business informatics, digital technologies, entrepreneurship, and electrical and information technology.

🎉 Highlights from the opening of our new site in ! 🎉

At the end of May, we welcomed colleagues, partners, and guests to celebrate this important milestone. In Freiburg, the new facility expands our capacities for the development and production of quality-critical materials and strengthens our position in the cell and gene therapy market. The day was filled with inspiring conversations, valuable insights, and a shared ambition for the future of innovative therapies.

🌍 Sustainability isn't something we add on. It's something we build in.

At Sartorius, sustainability is not a "nice to have" – it's a core part of our values and how we operate. is a reminder that real progress requires consistent action.

We are turning ambition into impact: guided by science-based climate targets and tangible initiatives to reduce our footprint across the entire value chain – from our own operations to our suppliers and products.

💬 "Real sustainability isn't added on. It's built in. And this means seeing sustainability as a dimension the company has to perform on – like quality or innovation."
Dr. Florian Funck, Chief Financial Officer, Sartorius

What does "built in" mean in practice?

It means embedding environmental sustainability into strategy as well as decisions across the business:

👉 Expanding renewable energy across our sites worldwide, including investments in solar power
👉 Applying eco-design principles in products such as Sartopore Evo
👉 Advancing circularity through initiatives like ISCC+ certification for Flexsafe bags
👉 Reducing emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3 – from electrifying our car fleet to optimizing logistics
👉 Supporting our customers in achieving their sustainability targets with technologies that increase output while using fewer resources

Because achieving our targets is not the job of a single team – it’s a shared responsibility across the organization. 💛

Sartorius opens new competence center for cell and gene therapy components in , Germany 👏🏗️

Today, we are celebrating the opening of our new state-of-the-art research and production site in Freiburg-Haid, in southern Germany.

Spanning 18,000 m², the site features manufacturing capacity for quality-critical materials such as cytokines, growth factors, and other essential cell culture components. This investment further strengthens our footprint in cell and gene therapies, one of the biopharmaceutical industry’s most dynamic fields.

💬 “Cell and gene therapies offer hope for treating diseases once considered untreatable. As a key site in our global network for critical materials such as cytokines and growth factors, Freiburg serves a dynamic market with high demands on speed, scalability, and reliability,” said Dr. René Fáber, Head of the Bioprocess Solutions Division and member of the Sartorius Executive Board.

Highlights include:

🚀 Manufacturing capacity for quality-critical materials in Freiburg has more than doubled

📈 Total investment of more than €140 million

🌱 Fossil‑free operations using geothermal energy, groundwater cooling, and photovoltaics

🌍 Part of our global growth footprint: With Freiburg, we continue to expand our global manufacturing network for advanced therapies. Around 140 colleagues will support customers worldwide with a broad product portfolio.

Thank you to our guests and speakers today, including Michael Kleiner, Ministerial Director at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Robert Staible, Head of Housing Development and Surveying, City of Freiburg, and to all our colleagues who made this milestone possible.
