ibidi Roadshow Portugal!🚗

Dajana Preuss from ibidi recently completed a road trip through Portugal together with Diogo Silvério from Enzifarma, our local partner.

During the roadshow, they visited leading research institutes and universities to connect with , discuss current research , and share insights into ibidi solutions for , live cell imaging, , chemotaxis, and cell-based assays 🔬

📍 On the tour, they visited:

▫️GIMM (Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine)

▫️ITQB NOVA (Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier)

▫️Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon

▫️Champalimaud Foundation

▫️ICVS - Life and Health Sciences Research Institute

▫️i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde

▫️AIBILI-Association for Innovation and Biomedical Research on Light and Image

💫 A big thank you to the Enzifarma team for the great organization and support, and to all participating institutes for their warm welcome!

Neural Blossoms🏵️

An image of neural rosettes differentiated from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The rosette organisation of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) is a crucial step in the differentiation process of iPSC-derived neurons. Immunofluorescent staining of the nucleus (DAPI, blue), and NPC markers (PAX-6, pink; nestin, yellow) was carried out, and imaged at 20x using a high-throughput spinning disk confocal microscope.

Just go with the flow 🌊

With the ibidi Pump System, you can create dynamic cell culture conditions for both shear stress and perfusion experiments.

🩸 Apply defined flow profiles to endothelial or epithelial cells, mimic wall shear stress found in blood and lymphatic vessels, or use continuous medium circulation to support long-term 2D and 3D cultures, including spheroids, organoids, and cells embedded in gel matrices.

One Pump System. Multiple Channel Slides. Endless assay possibilities.

Marrow-on-a-Chip: Image of the Month June 🗓️

Two microfluidic devices containing a cultured monolayer of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Actin filaments are labelled using phalloidin (green) and the nuclei are stained with DAPI (blue). Imaging was performed on a ZEISS Group Axio Observer 7 microscope with a 20x objective. This is the first step in creating a lab-on-a-chip model of bone marrow for studying related diseases.

Exploring immune cell invasion in 3D 🧊

Our new Application Note 82 introduces a chemotaxis-driven invasion assay using the ibidi micro-Insert 3D and a collagen I matrix to study Jurkat T cell migration in response to serum gradients.

🧩 The protocol provides a robust and reproducible setup to analyze how directional cues influence invasion depth in a physiologically relevant 3D environment. Ideal for studying immune cell migration, tumor microenvironment interactions, and chemotactic behavior in extracellular matrices.
