Flaw 1- Fracture (track 4) - Alexandrine.
(anniversary notes 3)
A solitary late night mixing/production session in the studio produced this facet of the album. Continuing the [Musique concrète] approach to the layering of sound and digital inflection, this piece forms one of the three miniatures (Flaws) that separate the songs on Alexandrine and was initiated by my hitting the strings and the body of the Strat with my hand and then unfolding and extending the fractured sound with a few treatments. Steve Jansen Official added the expansive celestial over-driven ghost pad that shrouds the end of the track conjuring for me the distant launch of an orbital rocket leaving the atmosphere. This piece seems to have the essence of the 'fragmented' and the 'fractured' which I wanted to explore on Alexandrine, a theme that will be revisited on the aptly named re-fractions EP planned for a summer release.
