Norwegian win in light-wind conditions! ⛵️🚀

This morning we were treated to the finest champagne sailing in bright sunshine, before the wind died down again in the afternoon and gave us one last test of patience 😵‍💫

And this weekend stayed true to itself right to the end: The leaderboard remained an absolute thriller until the very last race!

A huge congratulations to our overall winners: Kongelig Norsk Seilforening! 🇳🇴 You showed the strongest nerves in this extremely demanding weather roulette and sensationally held your ground at the top. Enjoy the celebrations! 🥳

These 5 teams showed absolute consistency in a highly competitive international fleet and secured the coveted tickets for the SCL Final in Kiel this October:

🎫 The Top 5 on the "Road to Kiel":
1️⃣ 🇳🇴 Kongelig Norsk Seilforening
2️⃣ 🇩🇪 Mühlenberger Segel-Club

Day 2 Recap: The leaderboard has reshuffled!

Yesterday on Lake Starnberg, we really had a bit of everything. We had extremely exciting races, some rain in between, and at the very end, the wind completely died down, meaning we unfortunately couldn't start the last two races of the day 😵‍💫

A look at the scoreboard shows that things really heated up yesterday afternoon:

The Kongelig Norsk Seilforening 🇳🇴 showed incredible consistency in the second half of the day and confidently took the overall lead (17 points). Right behind them, the Royal Thames Yacht Club 🇬🇧 and the hosts from the Bayerischer Yacht-Club (Team BMW) 🇩🇪 are tied for 2nd and 3rd place with 19 points each after Day 2.

It was definitely an afternoon of shifts! The Union Yacht Club Wörthersee 🇦🇹, who were comfortably in 1st place at the halfway mark, unfortunately had to drop a few points in the afternoon. After some tougher races, the Austrians slipped down to 4th place.

Working their way up strongly, on the other hand, was the Mühlenberger Segel-Club 🇩🇪, who found their rhythm after a mixed start and climbed to 5th place, as well as the WSV Giesbeek 🇳🇱, who managed to make up some crucial points in the final flights 🚀

The fleet at the top is incredibly close, which promises pure suspense for today's final day! 🔥

We are eagerly looking at the wind forecast for today and hoping for a good breeze 🌬️

Which 5 teams will hold their ground at the top and secure the coveted ticket to the SCL Final in Kiel in October? 🎫⛵️

We'll keep you updated!

Challenging conditions on Lake Starnberg! 🌬️⛵️

We now have 4 complete flights in the books!

The day actually started quite promisingly with a steady breeze from the west. But the longer we were on the water, the trickier it got: The wind steadily dropped, shifted to the south, and became gusty. These were really tricky conditions that demanded everything from the teams tactically and led to big differences in the results. It was definitely not easy out there today! 😵‍💫

After four flights, one team has really stood out at the top: The Union Yacht Club Wörthersee 🇦🇹 excelled in these demanding conditions and leads the fleet after three consecutive race wins with just 5 points.

Right behind them, things are extremely tight: The hosts from the Bayerischer Yacht-Club (Team BMW) 🇩🇪 and the Royal Thames Yacht Club 🇬🇧 are tied for second place with 9 points each. Hot on their heels are the Kongelig Norsk Seilforening 🇳🇴 and HRM Racing 🇵🇱, sharing fourth place with 10 points each.

This shows just how close the fleet is. With tomorrow's Final Four still ahead, there is still a lot to play for, and we can expect plenty of changes on the leaderboard 🚀

What a test of patience on day one! 🌧️⛵️

Out on the water three times, back into the harbor three times, the wind really tested us on this first day of the SAILING Champions League Qualifier. Towards the evening, it also got quite uncomfortable, cold, and rainy 🥶

But the persistence paid off: We managed to finish one complete flight in the end. Every team got to sail exactly once and put their first points on the board.

Here’s a look at the top of the leaderboard after the first round:

🥇 1st Place (1 point each after a race win):

🇩🇪 Mühlenberger Segel-Club
🇬🇧 Royal Thames Yacht Club
🇨🇭 Segelclub Stäfa

After a wet and cold finish on the water, it’s time for a quick beer at the BYC to warm up 🍻 It won't be a late night, though, because tomorrow starts early: Skipper's Briefing is at 08:00 AM, and the first possible start is at 09:00 AM.

Fingers crossed for more consistent wind and dry weather. See you tomorrow! 🙌🏼

Season Opener: The hunt for the title begins on Lake Starnberg! ⛵️💨

The boats are ready and the tension is rising: The SAILING Champions League kicks off its 13th season this weekend at the historic Bayerischer Yacht-Club! 🙌🏼

At stake is nothing less than the prestigious title of "Best Sailing Club of the Year". 18 world-class teams from 10 nations have arrived to prove themselves on Lake Starnberg. But the pressure is on, because only the best will advance to the Final.

Only those who finish in the Top 5 by the end of the weekend will secure a coveted starting spot for the SCL Final in Kiel in October. Waiting for them there are already the national champions as well as the champions from the USA and the Asia-Pacific region 🌍🔥

Only skill counts: All teams sail on an identical fleet of J/70 boats. Due to the constant crew rotations and the extremely high-frequency "flight" format, even the smallest tactical mistake is punished immediately 😵‍💫
