The main objectives are the acquisition, compilation, processing, analysis and the interpretation of geophysical data. terratec Geophysical Services executes these services for mineral exploration, groundwater/geothermal energy prospecting and geotechnical purposes. terratec Geophysical Services was founded in 1989 and consists of 35 geophysicists and geologists who are fluent in a great variety of languages with offices in Germany, Mali, Namibia, Bulgaria as well as logistic bases in Austria, Sweden and Finland. terratec Geophysical Services has comprehensive working experience in different countries and climates from Greenland to South Africa. Staff and geophysical systems have been optimized and adapted to harsh conditions in remote areas.

Airborne geophysics in Austria! 🇦🇹🚁

For Ekometall’s Grossfragant Project, terratec geophysical services GmbH & Co.KG is flying 6,700 line-kilometres of magnetic and radiometric heliborne surveys, supporting mineral exploration in the region.

Together with our helicopter partner, Wucher Helicopter, we’re taking geophysical exploration to new heights!

✨Honouring a Legacy🙏

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, the terratec Geophysical Services Namibia team took a moment to honour the late Gregory Symons, visiting his final resting place in a landscape he loved and deeply respected for its geological significance.

His vision, dedication and pioneering work laid the foundation upon which we are built. His contribution to geophysics in Namibia and beyond continues to be reflected in the work we do today.

We are proud to carry forward the foundation he built and to honour his legacy through continued exploration, innovation and excellence.

As part of the Water Security in Africa (WASA) SeeKaquA project “Semi-airborne electromagnetic exploration of the Kalahari’s aquifers, Africa” funded by the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR), terratec geophysical services GmbH&Co. KG conducted semi-airborne EM surveys in Zambia.

Working closely with project partners LIAG Institute for Applied Geophysics, The University Of Zambia (UNZA), University of Namibia, and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), large areas of the Machile-Zambesi Basin in southern Zambia were investigated using advanced geophysical methods.

In addition to , Audio Magnetotelluric ( ) and Transient Electromagnetic ( ) measurements were conducted to further characterise the subsurface.

The objective is to improve understanding of the basin’s subsurface structure and support more secure and sustainable water supplies.

On Monday, 3 August 2026, we celebrated a very special milestone surrounded by our colleagues, clients — both new and long-standing — partners, and friends who have been part of our journey.

Twenty years of projects, challenges, discoveries and, most importantly, great people. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to our story and helped make these two decades possible. We honour the late Gregory Symons, whose vision, dedication and pioneering work laid the foundation upon which terratec Geophysical Services Namibia was built.
