Marking a part? Read the drawing twice before you start.
Drawings often list two things: how to mark the part, and what to mark on it. Mixing these up is a common mistake — and it gets parts rejected.
Example: a drawing says "VIBRO-ETCH" plus a part number. VIBRO-ETCH is just the marking method (like saying "use a laser"). Only the part number should end up on the part — not the word "VIBRO-ETCH" itself.
✅ DO: check the Notes section for exact marking instructions
❌ DON'T: mark method names on the part
❌ DON'T: guess if something is unclear — ask Xometry first

📌 Material Certificates: Mandatory for All FAIRs

Working on orders that require a First Article Inspection Report (FAIR)?

Please remember a core requirement in our Quality Control process: a Material Certificate is mandatory for EVERY FAIR package — even if it is not explicitly listed as a separate line item on your Purchase Order (PO).

What to upload via My Orders:
1️⃣ Material Certificate: Official certification tracing the raw material used (recorded in Form 2 of your FAIR template).
2️⃣ Completed FAIR (.xlsx): Form 1, Form 2, and Form 3 fully filled out.
3️⃣ Ballooned Drawing: Matching every balloon number to your report.
4️⃣ Part & Packaging Photos: Showing all sides, serial numbers, threads, and bag & tag labeling.
5️⃣ Additional Certificates: Finish, Hardware, or NDT certificates (where applicable).

Click the button, and the order is yours immediately. No need to wait for our confirmation. You can start production right away. If you want an order right now, look for the orange button.

🔵 Blue button — Apply
Click Apply to send your application. We'll review it first. If you're selected, we'll confirm the order, and then you can start production.

Easy to remember:
🟠 Take the Job Now = your order immediately.
🔵 Apply = wait for confirmation.
