𝗚𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲 - 𝗚𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀
Two beavers, one year and a 35-metre-long dam: in Studland, in the south-west of England, dense woodland has been transformed into a biodiversity-rich wetland. Since their release in March 2025, the beavers have been using their dam to slow the flow of a stream and dam it up to form a deep pond.
More light in the forest creates space for plants, insects, amphibians, birds and bats. Cameras there have already captured an otter fishing and a barn owl hunting. And even during the summer drought, the wetland remained well-watered.
Beavers shape habitats – and retain water. Around 40,000 of these animals now live in Germany once again. Where their dams affect farmland, paths or woodland, effective solutions are needed to ensure that people and nature can coexist.

Some of our colleagues, including Monica and Valeska, attended CPHI Europe in Milan and shared some fascinating insights with us.
As well as interesting discussions with clients and networking with new contacts, there were plenty of informative insights. Of course, there was no shortage of delicious coffee and Italian food to enjoy with our colleagues either. A survey, which all participants were able to take part in, also sparked discussion on topics such as AI in the research sector.

𝗚𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲 - 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀

Bio-waste is being turned into new raw materials.

What ends up as waste today could be a valuable raw material again tomorrow.

In a German-Estonian research project, technologies from the Fraunhofer Institute are being combined to create a modular platform capable of converting bio-waste into new raw materials such as bio-oil, biochar and synthesis gases. An initial industrial prototype is already in operation.

A fine example of how research and innovative technologies can help us use resources more efficiently and take material cycles a step further.
We think this is good news for research, industry and a future that conserves resources.

Definitely the people and the variety. Every day is different, and I really enjoy working in an international environment where I can combine business development, customer relationships and strategic thinking.
For me, the most rewarding part is seeing an opportunity develop from an initial conversation into a successful business relationship.

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also like travelling, discovering new places and cultures, and keeping myself active. I particularly enjoy football and following sporting events.

Italy, especially Sicily. The combination of sea, nature, food, culture and the Mediterranean lifestyle makes it a very special place for me.

𝗚𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲 - 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀

A new milestone for wind energy is taking shape in Germany.

In Southern Brandenburg, a region traditionally known for coal, what is set to become the world’s tallest wind turbine is nearing completion.

Standing at an impressive 365 metres, almost as tall as Berlin’s TV Tower, the innovative turbine by GICON reaches a hub height of 300 metres. The idea behind going higher is simple: stronger and more consistent winds can significantly increase energy yield.

According to GICON, the concept could generate around twice the energy of a conventional wind turbine with the same rotor diameter. Another interesting aspect: these high-altitude turbines could potentially be integrated into existing wind farms, increasing renewable energy generation without requiring additional land outside the sites.

From a former coal region to a testing ground for next-generation renewable energy – an exciting example of how engineering and innovation can contribute to the energy transition.
