What an incredible honor: SMA Altenso has won the The smarter E Award at Intersolar .
In the “Outstanding Projects” category SMA Altenso impressed the jury with Africa’s first integrated, off-grid hydrogen plant that combines photovoltaics, battery storage and electrolysis in a self-sufficient mini-grid, producing energy locally and converting it directly into industrial use.
This is more than a project. It’s a blueprint for how regions around the world can build sustainable value chains locally and accelerate the global energy transition.
A big thank you to all partners involved, and to the jury for this recognition.

Our recommendation:
1. Connect all SMA devices (inverters, Sunny Home Manager, etc.) to the network using Ethernet cables.
2. Also use a suitable switch (a network device that connects multiple devices within a local network). Ideally, all SMA devices should be connected directly to this switch and the switch should be connected to the router that establishes the internet connection.

Tip: A reboot can help!
Sporadic network issues can often be resolved by rebooting the switch and reconnecting the cables:
1. Turn off the switch
2. Reconnect the devices’ Ethernet cables to different ports on the switch
3. Turn the switch back on and wait a few seconds until it has fully booted up. Please be patient and check the status in Sunny Portal again after a few minutes.

What to do if that doesn't help?
If the steps above are unsuccessful, connect all SMA devices directly to a suitable Ethernet switch that has its own web interface and allows for advanced settings. Then disable the "IGMP Snooping" option in the switch's user interface. Please be sure to check before purchasing whether this feature can be disabled.

Note: Using media couplers such as powerline adapters or Wi-Fi repeaters may cause transmission issues.

A first for Kassel, Germany: As part of European Week, ten students from the Georg-August-Zinn school installed their own solar power system, and we were pleased to support them with our new inverter.

They installed one of the first Sunny Tripower X 60 units, which has a power output of up to 60 kW, five MPP trackers for maximum yield and integrated energy management for efficient system control.

The outcome is invaluable real-world experience for the next generation, as well as sending a strong message in favour of increasing the use of solar power in schools.

Thank you to the project team and all local partners.

🔹 Namibia: Africa’s first integrated, off-grid plant for the production of green hydrogen.
