The international Biogas Intelligence+ conference will begin in Stuttgart on October 7, with a total of 22 specialist presentations being held in six thematic blocks over two days at the SHMT training center. The speakers come from five European countries, while participants also come from Asia and Africa.

In their introductory presentation, Bruna Azevedo and Alexis Cuquel, both from Switzerland, will present an AI-based system that uses biogas quality signals to detect process disturbances in dry fermentation plants at an early stage. This approach has been successfully tested in practice and now offers an important contribution to the optimization of plant control. Also on the first day of the conference, Christoph Reithmair, from Omnicert Umweltgutachter GmbH, a member of the FnBB, and involved in the cybersecurity working group at Fachverband Biogas e.V., will give a presentation on cybersecurity. He will report on current cases of cyberattacks, best practices, and practical recommendations for protecting biogas plants. Another presentation on this topic will be given by Prof. Dr. Stefan Sütterlin, who works in the field of computer science at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University, where he supervises IT security courses. He will show how human error can lead to security risks and present behaviorally based approaches to increasing security through targeted training and awareness-raising. In addition, Mark Paterson, a researcher at KTBL in Darmstadt, will present a concept for the economic bundling of several small or decentralized biogas plants in his presentation on the afternoon of the second day. Both conference days will end with an interactive forum in the form of a dialogue.
