To celebrate the successes of over 50,000 IE Business School alumni, the institution's Global Alumni Relations recently launched an innovative initiative named EPIC, standing for Extraordinary People Inspiring the I.E. Community.

One of this year's EPIC alumni was SONEAN's founder, Dr. Murat Uenal, who earned his LLM at Northwestern Law School (studying also at IE) and his Doctorate in Business Administration at IE Business School in 2011. Out of 121 "independent directors" in the STOXX 50 a minimum of 44% are historically tied to the executive managers (having e.g. worked in the same companies before). INDEPENDENCE of directors thus needs to be redefined. We will publish all details in our upcoming whitepaper. In SONEAN`s recommendations to the OECD furthermore (weniger https://lnkd.in/bWsuCcU ) we highlight why social ties between executive and non-executive directors have to be considered. Our 2 year analysis is based on of 445 executive plus 476 non-executive directors who run the STOXX 50 companies in Europe.

It complements our academic research dedicated to the application of social network analysis and our team of 9 well known professors globally (SNA at Work) who get together regularly in different parts of the world (soon in Qatar-Doha after our latest meeting in the UAE-Dubai). SONEAN will allow its clients, i.e. asset managers and asset owners (such as corporates) alike, to move beyond financial and non-financial data and provide them with unique and complementary social network analytic insights.
Building on over 12 years of systematic screening and analysis, connecting the nodes and using social network analysis (SNA) as well as visualization, we will assist our customers in integrating the social capital/social network related view into their investment and strategy related decisions, enabling them to spot potential risks as well as opportunities from a new perspective. SONEAN will thus bring the social network factor into their decision making process and complement existing financial as well as non-financial data that clients use, broadening their tool sets greatly.
Our aim is to establish social network criteria as relevant variable in making investment decisions globally thus allowing our clients to see much MORE.

SONEAN will also be the gateway to new target groups/sectors and move our core competence in SNA based strategy consulting and intelligence beyond the investment industry.
