Thee Marloes’ released their sophomore album, „Di Hotel Malibu“ via . It arrives as a widening of the frame — a confident step away from the lines that once neatly held their sound, and toward something more porous, conversational, and deeply Indonesian.

It’s been two years since Perak, the Surabaya trio’s debut for Big Crown Records, introduced their unique sound. This new record doesn’t abandon that lineage so much as stretch it, showing how much they have grown as a band since the release of their debut and all the experiences that came with it. Composed of vocalist and keyboardist Natassya Sianturi, guitarist and producer Sinatrya Dharaka and drummer Tommy Satwick, have always worked as a unit, their songs shaped by shared reference points and a lived-in sense of groove. On this album, that collective language expands. The arrangements move across a broader spectrum, with new instrumental colors, unexpected rhythmic turns, and a looser approach to structure. The band describes it as a response to the last two years of living: social realities, love lives in flux, and all that success has brought into their lives.

Yesterday, Munich-based musician and composer Enik dropped his new album „Rainbows Planecrashes“ via his label Flip the Atom Records.

is one of those artists who never wanted to fit into a genre box – and ended up finding his home precisely in the cracks between them. As a musician, producer and composer he has released over the past two decades on labels such as Wonder Records, EMI, !K7 and Trikont. He appeared on Funkstörung’s album „Disconnected“ – in the company of artists such as Sarah Jay (Massive Attack) and Lou Rhodes (Lamb). At the same time, his compositions shape productions at institutions including the Munich Kammerspiele, Schauspielhaus Graz, Thalia Theater Hamburg and the Bavarian State Opera.

With „Rainbows Planecrashes“, Enik presents an album that navigates the fragile balance between inner chaos and the outer world – between vulnerability and clarity – shifting between intimacy and eruptive force. Early lines like “Waves of joy overcome me … until I dissolve in the one” show that this music describes states rather than stories. A poetic condensation.

If you’re based in or around Munich make sure to see the Release Concert at Kammerspiele München (Schauspielhaus) on July 17th.

Today, announced their self-titled debut album - out on on August 14th. „The Womack Sisters“ is a well-earned triumph for the Sisters and their tenacity, announced today alongside the release of their debut single “Chauffeur” and accompanying music video.

Classic sounds conveying contemporary feelings plays a big role in „The Womack Sisters“ as a body of work. Rather than compromise their style or their subject matters to conform to industry ideals, The Womack Sisters stuck to their guns, placing their faith in the soul music that raised them since before they could walk. Over an intensely soulful collection of tunes that harkens back to when pop music had substance, vibe and purpose, each of their distinct voices have their moments in the spotlight.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung recently published an interview with musician and composer Adrian Younge on the growing impact of AI-generated music — and on what this development could mean for artists, listeners and the future of music.

The topic is especially urgent as AI-generated music is rapidly spreading across streaming platforms. According to the initiative Played by Humans, 97% of listeners cannot distinguish between AI-generated and human-created music. At the same time, around 60,000 AI-generated songs are uploaded to streaming services every day — while human musicians are projected to lose income equivalent to three months’ earnings per year by 2028.

In response, TBWA\Chiat\Day LA, a creative agency known for its long-standing Disruption® methodology, and , the music-based culture and arts project by , launched Played by Humans in early April.

Played by Humans is both an initiative and a seal of approval designed to give musicians and listeners a clear way to verify whether music was created by humans rather than machines.

today announced her new album ‚The Ground Above‘, out June 26th on . She also shared new single ‚Waiting‘, a slow building, life affirming track with subtle influences of Laura Nyro, Carol King and Orton’s early collaborator Terry Callier. Orton says the song “is a celebration of moving out of the holding pattern fear keeps us in.” Across ‚TheGround Above‘, she continues to expand her song writing into new terrain, with ‚Waiting‘ she does so with humour as much as heartbreak.

Friday March 20th, Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart released their debut album as a trio, BODY SOUND, on LP, CD, and digital download via International Anthem.

They also shared a new streaming single, „burning | counting (sleeping),“ with the full album to be released on streaming platforms April 8th.

Whitney Johnson, Lia Kohl, and Macie Stewart are a trio who utilize string instruments, voices, and manual tape effect processing to craft compositions from alternately tranquil and disquieting improvised music. The three musicians are individually rooted in deep sound exploration, multi-disciplinary composition, and all manner of cross-genre collaboration. The musical ground covered by their solo practices is correspondingly expansive, and their individual recording and performance credits read as a veritable who’s who, ranging from DIY darlings to household names of experimental avant-garde, electronic, indie rock, and more.

Their influences are vast — dispatched with more playful ease than a trio of string instruments is typically approached with, and just as likely to be found in the cloud-obscured mountains of Donegal, the low-rent cacophony of a Midwestern basement, or the revelatory expanse of the Nurse With Wound list as in the storied halls of the academy. Touchstones and areas of interest aside, the main thing that Johnson, Kohl, and Stewart engage with in BODY SOUND is: listening and reacting.

BODY SOUND is deep, melancholy, and triumphant, coming across like a kind of lost or amalgamated folk music. It’s also part of an ongoing creative continuum, informed by the improvised music idioms of the trio’s hometown, Chicago, and boasts track titles adapted from Yoko Ono’s classic book of text scores Grapefruit.
