The Maximin Grünhaus estate lies at the foot of a long steep south-facing slope on the left bank of the Ruwer river, about two kilometres before it joins the Mosel. The estate belongs to the Von Schubert family and is divided into three separate but contiguous vineyards: the Abtsberg, the Herrenberg, and the Bruderberg. Each of these vineyards has its own distinct micro-climate, gradient and soil composition, differences in terroir which explain the unique character of the wines made at Grünhaus. Here are the specific features of the three vineyards:
Abtsberg, Herrenberg, Bruderberg

Work in the Maximin Grünhaus vineyards is conducted in close harmony with nature. Fertilisation is predominantly organic, and the vineyards have been planted with a cover crop of wild herbs and grasses. We use no pesticides or herbicides, maintaining the health of the grapes through intensive manual work instead. To ensure quality, yields are restricted to around 45 - 55 hectolitres per hectare (hl/ha); other quality estates in the Mosel average around 80 hl/ha. The grapes are harvested by hand and, depending on the character of the vintage, several passes may be made through the vineyard.

The vines have started to flower. ☺️

A small moment, easy to miss (not for us vintners...) - but full of promise. Year after year, nature breaks through, follow its course, and reminds us that a renewal ist one of its greatest strengths.

The journey from blossom to harvest has begun. 🌱🍇

Some bottles are more than wine—they are memories waiting on a shelf. 🌟

Our 2016 Herrenberg Kabinett is one of those treasures. As the birth vintage of our first son, it carries a special meaning for our family. Today, nearly a decade later, it also shows the magic of maturity.

Elegant, mineral, and unmistakably Grünhaus, the wine has developed layers of complexity while preserving its freshness and precision. A beautiful reminder that some of the finest things simply take time. ☺️👏

The perfect companion at the table. ☺️

Our Herrenberg Superior is a fine off-dry Riesling that combines vibrant freshness, delicate fruit and remarkable balance. Its subtle sweetness and lively acidity make it one of the most versatile food wines – equally at home with spicy dishes, seafood, poultry or even a summer barbecue! 😎☀️

The name “Superior” reaches deep into Grünhaus‘ history. For centuries, the estate was owned by the Abbey of St. Maximin in Trier. The Superior was the head of the monastery, and this wine pays tribute to more than 1,000 years of monastic heritage at Grünhaus. 👏

A wine rooted in history, made for today’s table.

Some wines simply make you smile. 😀
Our new 2025 Schloss Riesling Kabinett is one of them.

A wine that captures everything we love about Riesling from the Ruwer: lightness, precision, and a distinctive interplay of fruit, minerality and cool herbal notes. 🌱🥂

Bright, fragrant and wonderfully expressive, it combines tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple with yellow peach, orange blossom and fresh herbs. The hallmark Kabinett balance of fruit sweetness and lively acidity—something only the finest Kabinetts achieve with true elegance—creates an irresistible sense of freshness and flow.

Light on its feet, yet full of character. ☺️

Whether enjoyed on a sunny afternoon, at the dinner table or shared among friends, this is a wine that reminds us why Kabinett remains one of Germany’s most distinctive and celebrated wine styles.

Now available. 👏

Books. Contemporary Art. Fine Wine.
Three worlds. One shared passion.
With her background in the international art trade, Amelie sees wine through quality, authenticity and expression. But unlike art, wine itself changes and matures. But does this fleeting beauty may connect it to art? Is the fleeting aspect of art it’s Zeitgeist? 😀

For us, both worlds meet in emotion, craftsmanship and the pursuit of excellence.
Where do you see wine and art intersecting? 🌟
