International trade policy has evolved significantly over the past years, due to significant developments in the global economy, geopolitics and the shift in global power. The dynamic nature and flow of international trade also had an impact in this regard. Trade policy has evolved to meet the needs more related to trade liberalization policies led by the World Trade Organization at the multilateral levels, after it was dominated by protection policies in the form of tariffs, voluntary restrictions on trade and protection of local industry, and at the regional level this development came through integration initiatives Trade and at the unilateral level due to countries' increasing integration of trade into national development plans. The gradual reduction of tariffs today has focused trade policy on non-tariff restrictions, trade in services, the service component of manufactured goods, value, trade facilitation and trade processes, and generally on the regulatory environment for trade and doing business.
In addition, the international trade landscape is increasingly dominated by a large number of trade negotiations, whether they take place at multilateral, regional or bilateral levels.
