THREE AUCTION DAYS, TWO AUCTIONS: One outstanding result.

With a total result of approximately €4.6 million and sell-through rates of 70–80%, our July auction week was a great success.

From exceptional Asian Art to important works of Modern and Contemporary Art, the sales attracted collectors from around the world. Outstanding
quality, distinguished provenance, and fresh-to-market works inspired competitive bidding throughout the week.

Highlights included Max Beckmann’s Judith and Holofernes, a rare silver-inlaid Zitan wood box, important Chinese porcelains and bronzes, and works by Zdzisław Beksiński, George Grosz, and Oskar Schlemmer.

ROBERT INDIANA AND THE MASTERS - Executed in 1968, Numbers, lot 2150, ranks among Robert Indiana’s most celebrated graphic works and stands as a landmark achievement of American Pop Art. Published at the height of the artist’s career, the portfolio transforms the numerals 0 through 9 into bold, autonomous compositions that exemplify Indiana’s unmistakable visual language and enduring fascination with signs, language, and symbolism.
Printed by the renowned Edition Domberger in Stuttgart, widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost screenprinting workshops—the portfolio reflects the extraordinary technical precision that helped establish screenprinting as a major artistic medium. This exceptionally rare impression, produced outside the regular edition of 275, further enhances the significance of a work that embodies the fruitful collaboration between one of the defining artists of Pop Art and one of Europe’s most distinguished print ateliers.

TWO PIONEERS OF MODERN ART – ADOLF HÖLZEL & IDA KERKOVIUS - Few artistic partnerships between teacher and student have shaped German Modernism as profoundly as that of Adolf Hölzel and Ida Kerkovius. Among Hölzel’s closest pupils, Kerkovius emerged as a remarkable artist in her own right while becoming one of the foremost interpreters and advocates of his artistic vision. Hölzel himself held her in the highest esteem, describing her as “an excellent teacher.”

The works presented in this post originate primarily from the distinguished Else and Max Brommer Collection, bringing together paintings by both master and pupil—a rare opportunity to experience the dialogue between two leading figures of early modern art.

OSKAR SCHLEMMER - BETWEEN SPACE AND FORM - Painted in 1917, „Ofen und Lehnstuhl (Interieur mit Lehnstuhl) I“. lot 2008 reflects Oskar Schlemmer’s early exploration of spatial relationships, geometry and the interaction between object and environment.

A work from the renowned Collection Max and Else Brommer, Stuttgart, exhibited already in 1920 at Galerie Der Sturm and documented in the early literature on the artist.
