GROB Aircraft SE www.grob-aircraft.com GROB Aircraft is one of the world’s largest and most experienced composite aircraft manufacturers since 1971.

Within its 40 years of history Grob delivered more than 3,500 aircraft that have flown over seven million hours on five continents. Its product range evolved from pioneering gliders of the 70s, the record-breaking high altitude aircraft of the 80s and 90s, and to today’s leading edge designed and state-of-the-art business jets, as well as to training and special mission aircraft. At its inception, GROB successfully produced 200 CIRRUS gliders under license and then soon after developed and manufactured its own ASTIR glider series in both a single seat and dual seat configuration. Already early showing its pioneering spirit, the company also introduced the TWIN III SL self-launching glider. In the 80s, the GROB received German an American (FAA) type certification for the G 109, the world’s first genuine series production composite motor glider. Taking its expertise in composite technology to a new level in the late 80´s, GROB showed its maturity as an aircraft designer and manufacturer when the company developed, tested and manufactured the G 520Egrett / Strato 1 high-altitude aircraft, gaining five world records. The Strato 2C pushed the limits even further. It was designed for altitudes as high as 78,800 feet (24 000 meters) and an endurance of 48 hours.

GROB Heritage

Some aircraft define a transition.
Grob G120A was one of them.

Developed as a modern training aircraft, it built on decades of experience in pilot training and composite aircraft design.

Its lightweight carbon fibre structure, long service life and proven reliability made it a platform designed not only for flying, but for structured, progressive pilot development.

First flown in 1999 and introduced into service in 2001, the G120A marked a new phase in Grob training aircraft design.

As training requirements evolved, so did the platform.

The G120TP represents the next step, combining performance, efficiency and modern avionics within an integrated training system.

Together, they reflect a continuous approach:
adapting training aircraft to changing operational demands while maintaining engineering discipline.

History matters when it enables progression.
At Grob Aircraft, it does.

This is part of the GROB Heritage series.

A royal visit to Mattsies.

On 8 October, we had the honour of welcoming His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and a delegation from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) to Grob Aircraft.

Following a visit to Helsing’s headquarters in Munich, the delegation joined us for lunch before touring our production facilities. Here, they saw Helsing’s AI fighter pilot, Centaur, take on two experienced fighter pilots in a live simulation and gained an insight into the production of the CA-1 Europa.

Our G 120TP was also on display, a special connection to Sweden, which is already among our customers for the aircraft.

It was a pleasure to share the work taking place in Mattsies, where production of our proven G 120TP and our work with Helsing on the next-generation CA-1 Europa take place side by side.

Thank you to His Majesty and the entire IVA delegation for their visit, to our colleagues at Helsing, and to everyone at Grob Aircraft whose work behind the scenes made the day possible.

What would you like to take responsibility for next?

At GROB Aircraft, we have some very concrete opportunities.

A structural test, from planning the setup to running it and evaluating the results. An avionics system, from defining requirements to integration and testing. A flight simulation model, refined against real flight-test data to reproduce aircraft behaviour, including stall and aerobatic flight.

We’re looking for Structural Test Engineers, Avionics / Electrical Systems Engineers and a Simulation Flight Model Developer to take on work like this.
There are also openings in loads and stress analysis, alongside opportunities for CNC machinists, composite manufacturing staff, aircraft mechanics and quality inspectors.

Our teams are based in Mattsies, Bavaria. Several engineering positions offer hybrid working.

If you recognise your expertise in any of these areas, take a closer look at the individual roles. We’d like to hear from you.

Why put a student and instructor side by side?

It is one of the first things you notice about the G 120TP. It is also much more than a choice of cockpit layout.

From the earliest lessons, the instructor needs to observe, explain and give immediate feedback. Sitting alongside the student makes that exchange a natural part of the flight.

An aircraft designed for training has to do more than perform well in the air. Its design also has to serve the people learning and teaching inside it.

Sometimes, the clearest expression of an aircraft’s purpose is where you put the second seat.

What aircraft design detail have you found especially effective as a pilot or instructor?

GROB Heritage

Some aircraft are not built for markets.
They are built to push limits.

The Strato 2C was one of the most ambitious aircraft projects in Grob’s history.
Designed for extreme high-altitude research, it combined advanced composite structures with a configuration optimised for operations at the edge of the atmosphere.

Its objective was clear:
to operate at altitudes of up to 24,000 metres (78,700 feet) for extended durations.

With a wingspan of over 56 metres, the aircraft was designed for endurance, altitude and mission capability far beyond conventional boundaries.

Not every aircraft enters widespread service.
Some exist to expand what is technically possible.

The Strato 2C demonstrated the depth of Grob engineering, and the ability to take on challenges far beyond standard aviation applications.

History matters when it defines ambition.
At Grob Aircraft, it does.

This is part of the GROB Heritage series.

There is something special about seeing your work take off.

At GROB Aircraft, many disciplines come together to make that happen, engineering, production, quality, integration, flight test and many more.
What starts as an idea, a drawing, a component or a line of code eventually becomes part of an aircraft built and tested here in Mattsies.

With established programmes such as the G 120TP and new developments including the CA-1 Europa, there is plenty ahead of us.

And we are looking for people who want to be part of it.

100 years of the Swedish Air Force - Flygvapnet

This weekend, the Swedish Air Force will celebrate its centenary at Malmen Air Base in Linköping – a place closely connected to the beginnings of Swedish military aviation.

Under the theme Past, Present and Future, the Jubilee Air Show will bring together aircraft representing a century of Swedish air power.

We are proud that the SK 40 – the Swedish Air Force designation for the GROB G 120TP – is part of that story today, supporting the training of the next generation of Swedish military pilots.

GROB Aircraft will be represented in Linköping by Wolfgang Gammel, Michael Rosenqvist, Tim Schneider, Daniel Neuschel, Nina Jenkins and Terence Kliem.

We look forward to meeting our Swedish partners, customers and friends and celebrating this important milestone together.

Congratulations to the Swedish Air Force on 100 years!

Some aircraft are built to go higher.
Grob G520 Egrett was one of them.

Designed for high-altitude missions, it combined lightweight composite structures with exceptional endurance and operational flexibility.

Its ability to operate at extreme altitudes made it suitable for surveillance, environmental monitoring and specialised missions where persistence matters.

Early Egrett prototypes set world records for altitude, reaching over 53,000 feet, a benchmark still remarkable decades later, while later developments focused on integrating mission-specific sensors and systems.

At a time when such capabilities were still limited, the Egrett demonstrated how advanced materials and aerodynamic design could extend operational reach.

It showed that Grob engineering was never limited to training alone.
It was capable of addressing complex mission requirements.

History matters when it expands capability.
At Grob Aircraft, it does.

This is part of the GROB Heritage series.
