In an increasingly volatile and unpredictable world, accurately predicting the future has become an impossible task. However, this does not mean that we are condemned to uncertainty. Anticipating potential scenarios and preparing for them is within our reach.
In my visit to Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, I had the chance to explore new Future Foresight Scenarios.
Our aim is to address the importance of developing prospective scenarios. These are not based on accurate predictions, but rather seek to challenge assumptions, biases, and preconceived notions about what the future holds.
Did you know that?
➡ 50% of companies believe that their core business will undergo fundamental changes in the next 3-5 years.
➡ Only 26% have defined strategic foresight as a business priority.
➡ Companies that engage in strategic foresight are more likely to:
🔹 Develop innovative strategies.
🔹 Adapt to market changes.
🔹 Seize new opportunities.
🔹 Achieve long-term success.
Adapting to these changes is crucial for both individual and business success. Developing new skills, being flexible, and being willing to learn are key to navigating this constantly evolving work landscape.
Strategic foresight presents itself as a powerful tool that helps us understand the future and develop strategies to thrive in it.
Thanks to the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies for including Institute for Futures in their Foresight Planning Programs. Especially to Kristian Mehlsen and Lovisa Molvarsson, the presentation of the Strategic Foresight Toolkit developed during the program I had the chance to participate in.
I believe that investing in strategic foresight, we can better prepare ourselves for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
