We are delighted to present our latest expansion to the Intellishore team, Thomas Nilaus Drossaers Damgaard, who will join us as a Senior Consultant in Analytics Engineering 🤝

Thomas comes from a position as a BI Consultant at BIWise A/S. During his time at BIWise, Thomas has been developing Data Platforms on Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and a bit of Google Big Query and AWS.

Thomas has certifications in Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and dbt. Thomas' developer toolkit includes SQL, C #, Python, R, and C++. He has been part of various sizes of projects ranging from larger team-oriented and solo ones to smaller, more feature-like ones 👨🏻‍💻

Thomas will deliver value by leveraging Snowflake and dbt to build scalable, efficient backend solutions. He will optimize data pipelines, create robust data models, and ensure clients can access actionable insights to drive informed decision-making and long-term growth 🚀

Intellishore Signature Experience with the Africa Advocacy Foundation 🌍

At Intellishore, we have set out to help not-for-profit organizations by providing not only our time but also our skills and expertise in connecting data and people. We call this the Intellishore Signature Experience 🙏🏼

In 2024, our three Intellishorians, Liv, Caroline, and Daniel, have supported the Africa Advocacy Foundation with the revamping of their PowerBI reporting 🙌🏼 Below, Liv Hyllinge has written about the purpose of the project and how it turned out:

Africa Advocacy Foundation collaborates with partner organizations across Europe to address health inequalities through working with PrEP awareness, HIV education, testing, treatment rights, and policy. Their important work requires funding, and in order to secure this, they must show how their work makes a difference.

Therefore, the data their partner organizations collect in testing facilities out in the field is showcased through a PowerBI report. As the volume of the data collected is significant, and there are many interesting correlations to show, we needed a bit more structure.

Our project was to help revamp their PowerBI report to make it structured, clear, and informative. In doing this, we hoped to help with:

- Increasing funding opportunities through the new report, which is showcased on their website and at conferences
- Enhance awareness (PrEP, HIV education, education about testing and healthcare rights)
- Policy influence (if we can show the data of migrants’ barriers to health care and similar tendencies, that might influence national and regional health care policies)

Considering these, we managed to squeeze the report down to just six pages, increasing the user-friendliness and clarity of the visualizations with a clear and recurring structure throughout the report. To include all interesting metrics, we utilized parameters in PowerBI, allowing us to show more than one metric in each visualization.

We received a letter of thanks from Denis Onyango, the Programmes Director of the Africa Advocacy Foundation. Here’s a snippet of what he had to say:

‘The insights that we have gained from the PowerBI report are already making a significant difference in our work, and we are confident that this will continue to benefit our projects in the future. […] Working with [The Intellishore Team] has been a pleasure due to the clear communication and mutual respect evident throughout the process. We are excited to welcome Mikkel Eklund as our new Consultant in our Analytics Engineering team at Intellishore! 🙌🏼

Mikkel graduated this summer with a master's degree in Business Intelligence, focusing on BI, Data Management, and Machine Learning. He has previously helped clients uncover valuable insights into their businesses and enhance decision-making processes, particularly through the creation of Power BI dashboards, while maintaining and developing the underlying data models in SQL 📈

Mikkel will join our Analytics Engineering capability, where he will assist our clients in unlocking actionable insights and driving data-informed strategies.
