A vessel crew member may question a sequence that looks straightforward in the project plan. That experience needs room in the discussion.

Another step forward for 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 ⚡

𝗡𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝘀 and 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗧 have started subsea cable production for LanWin2 at Nexans’ facility in Halden, Norway.

The 525 kV HVDC cables will help connect offshore wind generation in the German North Sea to the onshore grid. Commissioning is currently expected in 2031.

TenneT’s Matthias Mensing describes this as “moving from planning and qualification into 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹-𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆.”

At RoC, we’re pleased to see this progress. Manufacturing milestones like this bring years of engineering and coordination closer to offshore ex*****on. 🌊

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 takes to the water 🌊

Encouraging to see 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲’s new electric commissioning service operation vessel launched at Armon Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.

Staffordshire is designed to use batteries as its primary power source. Bibby Marine is working with Kongsberg and Corvus Energy on propulsion and battery systems, alongside Stillstrom on offshore charging compatibility. ⚡

𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗻, CEO of Bibby Marine, described seeing the vessel afloat as “a landmark moment for everyone involved in the project.”

Outfitting continues over the coming months, including battery installation, with delivery planned for 2027.

𝗜𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻. Despite careful planning, unexpected challenges arise, disrupting plans. 📆

When coordination fails to align in a project, it often results in the inefficient use of resources.

Without proper coordination, tasks may be duplicated, efforts may be misdirected, and timelines may be disrupted. This lack of alignment leads to delays and increases unnecessary resource spending.

To avoid inefficiencies, it is important to establish defined roles and responsibilities and regularly assess and realign project objectives to ensure good use of resources.

TenneT Germany has become a Development Sponsor of 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗮'𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹, joining DEME Group and Subsea Cable Assets (SCA).

The tool is being developed to 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 efficiently while aiming to reduce disturbance to the seabed.

Once the testing programme at 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 has been successfully completed, TenneT Germany will evaluate its potential for future offshore cable decommissioning in the North Sea. 🔧

Another step forward for 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗲𝗮 🌊

Encouraging to see Equinor appoint ERM and CMS to support the next development stage of its planned offshore wind project off South-West England.

ERM will lead environmental scoping work, including the associated cables and grid connection. CMS will provide legal guidance through the pre-application phase.

With a potential capacity of up to 𝟭.𝟱 𝗚𝗪, the project could become operational in the mid-2030s. Equinor describes the wider leasing round as “a generational opportunity to establish a new market for offshore wind.” ⚡
