Is Gastronomy an Artistic Expression?

Last week our CEO, Marie Nipper () spoke at CONVERGENCE, a five-day event gathering over 60 chefs at Alchemist, and as well the Danish Minister of Culture and as a large audience for a symposium at DR Concert Hall.

Across a series of talks and conversations on the theme “Gastronomy as Artistic Expression” the symposium explored how food intersects with art, culture, innovation, sustainability, ingredients, communities and diversity.

INVITATION 👀

LOOKLOOK is pleased to present ‘Shadow Dancers’, a solo exhibition by artist Philip Dufva (), curated by . We are happy to invite you to the opening on Thursday, the 5th of February, from 5 to 7 pm at Borgergade 17B.

For the exhibition Shadow Dancers, freestanding plexiglass panels are held within a wooden structure. Grooves are cut into the surface with sharp tools, recalling the printmaker’s workshop. The image, however, is not intended to be fixed on a two-dimensional surface, nor is it meant to be reproduced. For Dufva, etching becomes a physical act of inscription – an attempt to assert presence through gesture.

Subtle etched lines appear and disappear as light shifts and the viewer’s position changes.

Encountered from the street, the works become part of the urban rhythm, creating layers of depth and overlapping views, blurring the boundary between sculpture and space. The works register bodily presence rather than depict it, revealing how architecture unconsciously shapes bodily movement in public space.

The exhibition will be on view 24/7 from the 5th of February throughout the spring.

Philip Dufva (b. 1993, Stockholm) lives and works in Copenhagen. He holds an MFA (2023) from the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Working with drawing, sculpture, and installation, his practice engages with questions of belonging, queerness, and the politics of public space, revealing cracks in dominant narratives.

📍LOOKLOOK is a window exhibition space by Creator Projects, curated by Efrat Edelsten, located at Borgergade 17B, Copenhagen.

A Copenhagen favorite is here to stay! 🖼️✈️

HuskMitNavn’s beloved mural Airport People has been restored and permanently acquired by Copenhagen Airport, securing its place as a cheerful send-off (or welcome home) for travelers for years to come.

Created by the talented Danish artist, this 26.4 x 1.8 meter mural was specifically designed for the corridor leading to gates E and F, capturing the funny, familiar, and chaotic moments of travel in HuskMitNavn’s unmistakable style. Whether you’re off on an adventure or returning home, it’s a moment of storytelling in motion.

Originally commissioned in 2019, Airport People was brought to life in collaboration with , , and Creator Projects, who served as art consultants for Copenhagen Airport. We’re  proud to have played a part in bringing this piece to the airport and seeing it permanently on display.

Congratulations to every traveler who now gets to experience this vibrant and lively work in motion!

Art can open people’s hearts and bring them together, and we need this now more than ever, especially in times when tomorrow feels uncertain.

Jeppe Hein’s work promotes togetherness and playfullness. Through works such as ‘Today I Feel like’ and ‘Breathe With Me’, Jeppe Hein focuses on human interaction, social relationships and co-creation.

2020-2023 Creator Projects initiated the project “Community through co-creation” to foster cohesion among residents, including students, vulnerable young people from institutions, and people from the general school system in Greenland.

The project spanned three weeks during which Jeppe Hein conducted workshops with students at PI/SPS in Ilulissat, Nuuk, and Maniitsoq. Among other activities, students used watercolors to paint their breath and state of mind. Subsequently, the students themselves conducted workshops in selected institutions with the city’s residents, thus continuing the project on their own engaging and activating local residents. In each city, residents were invited to a celebration at the seminar.

In addition to the workshops, the project includes the site-specific commission ‘Tupilak Catcher’ (2023) and the wall painting ‘Today I Feel Like’ (2020-2023) by Jeppe Hein for the Social Pedagogical Seminarium in Ilulissat (PI/SPS). The wall painting involved the entire town in its ex*****on spanning 3 years and contributes to creating an inspiring learning environment for young, aspiring social pedagogues.

‘Community through co-creation’ was realised with generous support from the A.P. Møller Foundation and the Augustinus Foundation.

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we can now unveil the winners of phase 1 of the project competition ´Byens Scene´.

In September, the initial five teams entered Phase 1—the idea phase—each developing a unique artistic and architectural vision to creatively connect DR Koncerthus, Bella Arena, and Royal Arena.
Each of the five teams

The result was five challenging and well-considered proposals with high-quality overarching concepts. Out of five visionary proposals that inspired lively and challenging discussions during the evaluation meetings, the Jury Committee has chosen to select three proposals to advance to Phase 2. The proposals The Impact, Bellscape, and Byens Scener - Alice in Ørestad will be further developed over the coming months, with a final winner to be selected by the summer of 2025.

As artistic advisors to the steering committee we're thrilled about the three selected teams and their proposals. Have a look at the images above for a glimpse of their concepts.

Check the link in the bio to read the press release and learn more about the proposals and the ´Byens Scene´ project.
