The Nordic-African Business Summit is taking place in exactly two weeks time! For its 10th anniversary the summit will be branching out from Oslo, with events also taking place in Lagos, Nairobi and Harare. We’re excited to see to what our Norwegian friends at will put together and how they’re going to incorporate these new locations into proceedings!

How many Tales of Africa will we be promoting? The answer is 6️⃣ and today, here’s the final one! This one comes from DRC 🇨🇩

Shamazulu is marrying the man of her dreams. Sounds great, no? Well Shamazulu has one problem, she’s got a really big nose and she’s very self-conscious about it 🤥 On the night of her wedding, a genie appears and offers Shamazulu the chance to fix her nose, but in return, she must never leave her husband.

We think we may have saved the best until last here, this is one tale that has us all very intrigued. What could possibly happen 🤔

Hey everyone, is back! Yes, we’re still trying to make that a thing 🙃

Today’s Tale of Africa is “Malika et la sorcière” (Malika and the witch) and comes from Burkina Faso 🇧🇫

Taking place in a forest, a witch kidnaps a group of girls, a group that includes Malika. Can she succeed in helping the other girls escape? 🤔

Happy hump day! 🐪 Let’s have a look at another tale from Africa. Today we’re looking at Le Cadeau (the gift), a story from Mali 🇲🇱

This story focuses on a girl who is disappointed at a gift her friend gives her. The narrator of the film, Papa Nzenzu, then recounts a tale of a boy whose life changed after being given a grain of calabash as a gift from his uncle, and explains how the value of a gift is not often material 🎁

It’s Tuesday and we are back with more details about the that we announced last week! 🔥

The first tale of Africa is Le Lutteur (the fighter), a story that travelled all the way from Senegal 🇨🇲

A story told, designed and animated from Senegal, this story will give us all a lesson to learn. Are you excited? 🤩

Lights, camera, action! 🎬

We said we’d have something to reveal today, and voilà, here is said thing ✨

We’re helping our friend Sara at Sunshine Danmark promote “Tales of Africa” - a collection of 6 stories from Senegal 🇸🇳, Cameroon 🇨🇲, Benin 🇧🇯, Mali 🇲🇱, Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 and DRC 🇨🇩. The Tales of Africa project aims to create an animated version of a popular African tale from each country on the African continent, with people in each country responsible for designing and animating their story. Africa has such a rich storytelling tradition and this project aims to capture that.

The Scandinavian premiere will comprise of two screenings - one on 18th September at Bibliografen Gladsaxe (in French with English subtitles), and a family screening on 19th September at Cinemateket in the heart of Copenhagen (dubbed into Danish).

We’ll be teasing more about each story over the coming weeks, and we can’t tell you how excited we are to be a part of this 🤩 Links to both events are in our bio - check them out!
