We’re so happy to welcome Kirsten Van Dam as our new Senior Project Lead.
Kirsten comes with the perfect background to run Bespoke projects at a high strategic level with Futures Design at the heart.

Having worked in the field of strategic foresight and design for 15 years, Kirsten shares our specific interdisciplinary approach and knows how to translate it into value for our clients.

Kirsten has led projects on the future of mobility, public transport, senior citizens, retail, and sustainability for clients ranging from Nike, Schiphol airport, Sonae Sierra, Ikea, T-mobile, Starbucks and Heineken.

All this to say why we’re so eager to start the work!

Today, we are proudly co-launching a/nordi/c - a think tank for art, policies and the creative fields.
Bespoke has been supporting the initiative the last months with both research on how to design think tanks for the future, research on the field of art and culture and by using our Futures Design methodology to find new and open ways of building and sharing knowledge.

For all the right reasons, our Futures Design work often lives behind NDA’s to protect the strategic core of what we work with. This project, on the other hand, is designed to be shared with the world. Artist, curators, creatives, researchers and anyone in between can start the exploration here in what has been named The Living Catalogue. An ever-growing collection of signals and insights on what is emerging within art, culture and the creative fields.

The Living Catalogue is an ever-growing collection of the signals we see taking shape in the arts, culture and the creative fields.

Bespoke’s Futures Design methodology is going on display at 💥

For the past five months, we have been collaborating intensely with and on a project to explore the power of the future as a design process.
We are honoured to be featured in such an iconic institution within the tradition; and it has been an inspiring journey to see the futures that passionate young want to create.

SHARING FUTURES - A NEW DIGITAL EXHIBITION ON FUTURES DESIGN.

Can 'digital nature' help improve our mental health in future lockdowns?
What does the workplace look like in 2030?
How can museums become more inclusive spaces in the future?

Explore these questions in the upcoming digital "SHARING FUTURES”, where five graduating students from The Royal Danish Academy have worked with our Futures Design methodology to explore some of the most relevant emerging challenges and opportunities.
In SHARING FUTURES you will be able to follow their process, from signal scanning, to initial ideas, to speculative concepts, and become wiser about how designers can actively work with the future.
The exhibition can be experienced on the museum's website from June 2021.

SIGNAL - Over one third of the food produced in the world is wasted. Agriculture is facing an unprecedented challenge due to arable land being reduced by soil erosion, degradation, desertification, and salinization. This could jeopardize global food production, which will need to be maximized to cope with the world's growing population and to match the food security goals established by United Nations. However, new resilience-building technologies enable farmers. food producers, food processors and retailers to extend shelf lives, reach new markets, and reduce waste — and to do it all in a cost-effective manner. Everything is Someone – Future fables about people and technology and everything in between

“Everything is Someone is a book about objects, technology, humans, and everything in-between. It is composed of seven “future fables” for children and adults, which move from the present into a future in which “being” and “thinking” are activities not only for humans. Absorbing and thought-provoking, this collection explores the point where technology and philosophy meet, seen through the eyes of kids, vacuum cleaners, factories and mountains.

In Everything is Someone the authors translate their experience in working with futures studies, technology, and design in the form of a mix media experience.”

SIGNAL - Climate change, biodiversity crisis, financial instability, political segregation, nationalistic rise, increasing inequality. The world seems more unstable and grim than ever. Despite a dystopian future at-hand, it seems that we, as a species, are in lack of imagining collective better futures.

Solarpunk is a form of speculative fiction which explicitly depicts green futures. It has sprung out as a niche literary genre and is growing as a speculative and inspirational world-building phenomenon, and may be a valuable tool in promoting action by overcoming widespread cynicism about the future.

Like its genre predecessors, Steampunk and Cyberpunk (and many more), Solarpunk is reliant on an aesthetic that extends to architecture, design, fashion, and art. Solarpunk fiction is thus a useful tool for sustainability educators because it encourages critical examination of one’s environmental impact.

Solarpunk stories often function as counter-hegemonic stories by intertwining issues of race, gender, sexuality, class, and colonialism with an ecological ethic.

SIGNAL - In the 1960s and 1970s, collectives emerged to change aesthetic impressions and to cross genres and boundaries between life and art.
Today, many art collectives are based on individual challenges with our working life.

SIGNAL - As COVID-19 shakes the global economy, different currency-related initiatives emerge.

As small towns and industry-dependent economies are hit hard by C19, different currency initiatives emerge to strengthen small towns economies, support local businesses and generate sense of unity.
