CPHFTW:

"The nature of money is changing", says Ronit Ghose, speaker at Copenhagen Fintech Week 2021 (CPHFTW).
Usually this process takes centuries, but in the modern era, the acceleration of change has increased in many areas of life – finance included.

In his presentation Future of Money, Ghose explains that many banks today come from the industrial age, and were built to support the industrialization of civilization – some even emerged in the era of trade.
But today is a very different world and banks are needing to change in accordance with shifting demands.

If they don’t adapt to the changing nature of money, they’ll increasingly fall behind, and non-bank entities will take their role.
According to the speaker, digital money 2.0 “reflects a revolution” as “we move away from the early renaissance, Italian, account-based, booking-keeping based, diary-entry, ledger-entry based financial system, into something that’s tokenized and atomic … And that creates all kinds of potential implications for the existing financial system.”
