How do you grow and stay you at the same time?

That’s a question I’ve gotten from professionals aiming for their next promotion, from entrepreneurs building their personal brand and company owners wanting to change their business model.

Usually there’s a realization that to grow, one must change. And that’s ok. The hard part is how to ensure that change without losing oneself along the way.

Can you get promoted to director without becoming a hard and cold person as you might have seen role-modelled around you?
How do you build a personal brand without becoming obnoxiously sales-ly and a modern-style Narcissus if that’s what you see all over social media?
And for your company to grow internationally and enter new markets, how do you hold onto the strong culture you’ve built up?

It’s hard. Really hard.

There’s so much fear underneath it all.

It’s possible though. I know this because I’ve seen it done.
Setting boundaries, being respected yet being kind.
Being quirky and truly unique yet powerful.
Having an incredibly ambitious yet caring culture.

The secret is trust.

Trust that it’s possible.
Trust that you’ll stay you.
Trust that you’ve got this.

Fridays are for reflecting on the week that passed.

I have been completely blown away by the stream of reactions, comments and well wishes I received since this Wednesday after announcing my company.

Goes to show that you truly can be your own worst enemy and sometimes closing your eyes and just doing it is the best way forward.

The day is definitely not over for me yet - when it is though, I will think back on this past week with intense gratitude and butterflies in my stomach for what comes next.

I’ve been meaning to tell the world that I have started my own company. I’ve just been hiding. Most of my plans were ready a while ago. Hell, one of my websites (yes, plural) was ready end September.
I just didn’t dare publishing it. Or telling anyone about it besides my inner circle.

No more.
