Partner Consulting ApS havde mulighed for at afholde en session om "ESG - kom godt i gang" som en del af en interessant og lærerig eftermiddag afholdt i samarbejde mellem UdviklingsRåd Sønderjylland og Haderslev Erhvervsråd.

Det var en meget interaktiv session med mange gode samtaler omkring ESG - evolution, nuværende tilstand af ESG i Danmark og hvordan man implementerer ESG strategi på en struktureret måde.

Som en del af programmet havde vi også mulighed for at vise et smugkig på vores SaaS-platform Sam360 og hvordan platformen hjælper med at dokumentere, måle og overvåge organisatoriske aktioner i forhold til FNs verdensmål.

❗ 60% of the world’s ecosystem services have been degraded over the past 50 years and we continue devaluing our natural resources at an alarming rate.
❗Forests are home to more than 80 % of all terrestrial species, including animals, plants and insects and more than 1.6 billion people depend on forests for their subsistence.
❗Deforestation and habitat encroachment not only deprive people of essential nutrients, they are the main sources of transmission for emerging infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
✅ Business and ecosystems are linked. Business can directly contribute to this SDG by measuring, managing and mitigating its impact and dependence on land and ecosystems.

✅ Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilization.The effects are already visible and will be catastrophic unless we act now. Through education, innovation and adherence to our climate commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet.

❗Global communities shies away from commitments required to reverse the climate crisis.
❗2019 was the second warmest year on record. Global temperatures are projected to rise by up to 3.2 degrees by 2100.
❗Climate change continues to exacerbate the frequency and severity of natural disasters.

✅ Companies can contribute to this SDG by decarbonizing their operations and supply chains through continuously improving energy efficiency, reducing the carbon footprint of their products, services and processes, and setting ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with climate science, as well as scaling up investment in the development of innovative low-carbon products and services.

✅ Worldwide consumption and production — a driving force of the global economy — rest on the use of the natural environment and resources in a way that continues to have destructive impacts on the planet.

❗️Each year, an estimated one third of all food produced – equivalent to 1.3 billion tonnes worth around $1 trillion – ends up rotting in the bins of consumers and retailers, or spoiled due to poor transportation and harvesting practices.
❗If people worldwide switched to energy efficient light bulbs the world would save US$120 billion annually.
❗Should the global population reach 9.6 billion by 2050, the equivalent of almost three planets could be required to provide the natural resources needed to sustain current lifestyles.

✅ It’s in businesses’ interest to find new solutions that enable sustainable consumption and production patterns. A better understanding of environmental and social impacts of products and services is needed, both of product life cycles and how these are affected by use within lifestyles. The reality is, businesses are the largest resource consumers.

✅ The world is becoming increasingly urbanised. Since 2007, more than half the world’s population has been living in cities, and that share is projected to rise to 60 per cent by 2030.
The 11th goal of the UN Sustainable Development Goals is to “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable”.

❗️Cities are on the front line of coping with the pandemic and its lasting impacts. Across the globe, COVID-19 is threatening cities and communities, endangering not only public health, but also the economy and the fabric of society.
❗9 in 10 people living in urban areas worldwide are breathing air that did not meet the WHO air quality guidelines.
❗More than 150 countries have developed national urban policies but less than half of them are in implementation stage.

✅ Businesses are core to the development of cities, livelihood, and services to urban populations. They are well positioned to deliver on Goal 11’s promise of universal access to quality housing, transport, green and heritage sites, in collaboration with Governments and municipalities

✅ SDG 10 is about reducing inequalities within and among countries. It is also about making sure that everyone has access to the same opportunities, no matter where they live or what their circumstances are.

❗️The pandemic is likely to reverse progress made in reducing income inequality since the financial crisis.
❗Post pandemic, it is estimated that the average GINI for emerging market and developing countries to increase by 6%.

✅ Contrary to the perception of many businesses, the private sector has a crucial role to play in addressing the systemic challenge of reducing inequality.

More than 790 million people still lack regular access to adequate food. SDG 2 aims to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030.

The role of businesses is vital – both regarding your economic activities, investments and your direct contribution, increased awareness, and donations.

Healthy, happy, and productive people are the answer to sustainable development.

And there are ways to ensure that the food system produces enough food without degrading ecosystems.
