In the cigar world, vertical integration isn’t just a business model - it’s what separates consistency from guesswork. When everything is controlled under one system - from growing to***co, to fermentation, to rolling and distribution - you get a level of quality that’s much easier to protect and refine.

In cigar to***co, not all leaves are the same - and that’s where seco, viso, and ligero come in. They all come from the same plant, but they grow at different heights, and that changes everything: strength, flavor, burn, everything.

Seco is lighter and brings balance. Viso sits in the middle and adds complexity. Ligero is the strongest - more intensity, more punch, slower burn.

In cigar culture, history isn’t something you read about - it’s something you still see in how things are done today. A lot of the methods, the respect for the leaf, the way ci**rs are rolled and handled… it all comes from traditions that have been carried forward for generations.

In cigar making, everything starts with three simple parts - filler, binder, and wrapper - but the way they come together is where the real skill is.

A good cigar box doesn’t need too much explanation. You open it, and everything inside already speaks for itself - selection, detail, intention. It’s made to be experienced, not rushed.

In cigar blending, what people call ‘art’ is really a mix of patience, experience, and a lot of trial and error. You’re working with different leaves, different strengths, different origins - and the goal is to make them come together in a way that feels balanced from start to finish.

Ci**rs aren’t only for special moments - they become part of your routine, your people, your conversations. It’s about slowing things down and actually enjoying where you are, not always chasing what’s next.

In this conversation with Jochy Blanco, we get into something that’s not talked about enough - the reality of to***co farming in the US. There’s potential, there’s history, but investment and long-term support just aren’t where they need to be for the scale and quality the industry depends on.

Some of the best conversations don’t happen in meetings - they happen on the golf course with a cigar in hand. No pressure, no noise, just people talking and enjoying the moment.

In cigar making, there’s a certain structure and balance that everything follows - from the way a leaf is selected, to how it’s rolled, to how it burns. People sometimes call it ‘sacred geometry,’ but in reality it’s just generations of knowledge that found what works and stuck to it.
