TASMIM 213 – Upcoming Edition
The Role of Designers in Enhancing Urban Aesthetics
Who Designs the City We Live In?
The upcoming edition of TASMIM 213, organized by ORKIDS Incubator, will explore the role of designers in shaping the visual identity, functionality, and overall experience of the city.
This edition will open a discussion around the importance of integrating designers and design thinking into urban development and planning projects. Through a short global inspiration video, focused interventions, and an open discussion, participants will reflect on how design can contribute to more beautiful, coherent, functional, and distinctive urban spaces.
The session will also address the challenges faced by design and architecture offices when trying to integrate designers more effectively into their projects, as well as the consequences of leaving design considerations out of urban development.
The edition will conclude with the presentation of a new initiative: the TASMIM City Design Challenge, a proposed annual competition encouraging designers, architects, students, artists, and creative talents to develop ideas that can contribute to a more beautiful and inspiring city.

A short presentation by Bilal Guerfi, founder of TASMIM 213, introducing the new version of the initiative and the theme of the session.
8:50 – 9:00 AM Global Inspiration
A short video presenting a global experience or artists and designers who have made a significant impact on the urban identity and aesthetics of a city.
9:00 – 9:20 AM Designers & Urban Development
A main intervention highlighting the importance of involving designers in urban development and the impact of their absence on the quality of urban spaces.
9:20 – 9:35 AM A Real-World Perspective
A short intervention :the challenges faced by design and architecture offices in integrating more design and designers into their projects.
9:35 – 10:10 AM Open Discussion
An open conversation with participants about the video, the role of designers, urban aesthetics, and the challenges of integrating design into city development.
10:10 – 10:20 AM TASMIM City Design Challenge
Presentation of the proposed annual competition for creative design ideas that can contribute to a more beautiful and distinctive city.

دور المصممين في الارتقاء بجمالية المدينة
من يصمم المدينة التي نعيش فيها؟
تخصص الطبعة القادمة من تصميم 213، التي تنظمها حاضنة أوركيدز ، لمناقشة دور المصممين في تشكيل الهوية البصرية للمدينة، ووظيفتها، وتجربة سكانها وزوارها.
ستفتح هذه الطبعة نقاشًا حول أهمية إدماج المصممين ومنهجية التفكير التصميمي في مشاريع التهيئة والتخطيط الحضري. ومن خلال فيديو قصير حول تجربة عالمية، ومداخلات مختصرة، ونقاش مفتوح، سيتبادل المشاركون الأفكار حول كيفية مساهمة التصميم في جعل الفضاءات الحضرية أكثر جمالًا، وانسجامًا، ووظيفية، وتميزًا.
كما ستتناول الجلسة التحديات التي تواجه مكاتب الدراسات والهندسة المعمارية في إدماج المصممين والتصميم بشكل أكبر في مشاريعها، إضافة إلى الآثار التي يمكن أن تنتج عن غياب البعد التصميمي في مشاريع التهيئة الحضرية.
وستُختتم الطبعة بتقديم مبادرة جديدة تتمثل في مسابقة التصميم لمدينة أجمل، وهي مسابقة سنوية مقترحة لتشجيع المصممين، والمهندسين المعماريين، والطلبة، والفنانين والمبدعين على تقديم أفكار وحلول تصميمية تساهم في جعل المدينة أكثر جمالًا وإلهامًا.
