Businesses love audits. Yep, for example, many companies run financial audits, or security audits for their IT systems. And most of us understand the main reasons they do so. But why are very few running reputation audits? Yet both protect business stability. Why do some businesses just ignore that?

A simple quarterly check can uncover fake review patterns, impersonation profiles, copied or "pirated" content, outdated articles ranking for the brand name, social media posts or forum discussions spreading incorrect claims, and way, way more. So, catching a problem early can surely reduce months of extra work later.

All our team at NonDetected always says that a reputation check does not take long. But ignoring one sometimes does take tooooooo long.

If a service that helps get rid of information from the internet promises you to remove any link in 24 hours, ask them one simple question:

- How?

You should understand that every service, in any case, works with platforms, and different platforms follow completely different rules.

Some hosts respond within days. For some, it takes weeks. When some others require repeated submissions with stronger documentation. And some may even ignore requests until a formal escalation appears.

Even successful removals can take months when the case is complex. Based on our years of experience in this niche, we can say with confidence that there is no universal shortcut. The work usually involves legal reasoning, technical reporting, persistence, and a lot of follow-ups. Like a LOOOOOOOOT!

It may not sound a little bit glamorous, but it is how the job actually gets done.

Why platforms reject 70% of poorly prepared takedown requests?

We remember one frustrated business owner who told us something like:
“My legal team has already reported it three times. Nothing happened!!! Why do you believe that your requests are different and will bring some results?”

During internal stages of meets with that client, we had a chance to review the submission.
• No legal basis
• Screenshots without exact URLs
• Emotional language. Yeah, LOADS of emotions
• Incorrect violation category selection

One should understand that platforms process thousands of requests daily. They always rely on structure. Especially nowadays, when the first check is mostly done with AI agents who know nothing about your ""emotional damage"" and how this situation affected you personally.

Strong takedown requests include:
• Clear policy reference
• Direct URL identification
• Evidence alignment
• Consistent narrative

Hence, keep in mind that precision significantly increases the success rate. But frustration rarely does that.

How did we help an Austrian hotel to get rid of fake acquisitions on the Web?

Like in many other stories, it all started with one email.

A boutique hotel owner in Austria wrote at 23:47: “Our guests are canceling. We don’t understand what’s happening”

Within 72 hours:
• 8 negative reviews
• Claims about hygiene violations
• Forum threads sharing some random screenshots
• Some "no-name" travel blogs are repeating accusations

But there had been no inspection failure. No complaints. No incidents. What the hack?

What we found during the first days of research:
Similar language structures (we also call it "writing flow"). Repeated posting patterns. AI-generated screenshots. Accounts created within days of each other.

After several days, we mapped the network. Escalated with structured documentation. Addressed mirror sites before they gained traction. Within weeks, most content was removed or deindexed. Bookings stabilized a little.

Online accusations spread fast in hospitality. Evidence moves faster.

If your company has not checked its online reputation in the last two to three months, here’s what MAY already be sitting out there in search results:
• fake reviews left by ex-staff or competitors
• copied articles posted on low-quality sites
• old forum threads still ranking for your brand name
• fake business listings
• scraped content on mirror domains
• misleading auto-suggestions in search
• old images showing up in image search
• impersonation profiles on social media

Unfortunately, most businesses don't notice the issue (or simply do not want to notice) when it first goes up.

They do only notice it when:
• leads go quiet
• candidates stop replying
• partners ask awkward questions
• branded search starts looking a bit messy

The sad truth is that by that very point, the cleanup takes way longer. A reputation check-up is much cheaper than a reputation crisis.

A man contacted us after searching his name online for the first time in years. He expected nothing unusual. Instead, he found an old forum thread from his university days. Arguments. Rumors. Comments that made little sense today. But they were still there. Anyone looking him up before a meeting could read them in seconds.

He did not want revenge. He did not want to fight the people involved. He simply wanted the past to stop showing up every time someone typed his name. Situations like this are more common than people think.

The internet rarely forgets on its own. Sometimes it just needs a little push. Or a strong punch.

There’s a belief that most problems online can be solved with a message. Find the owner, ask for removal, wait for a response. It works just enough times to keep the idea alive.

Then you hit silence. Or refusal. Or someone who simply doesn’t care. And that’s usually the point where people realize this isn’t about one request.

It turns into a sequence. Platform policies, copyright angles, privacy claims, search visibility, sometimes legal pressure. Different doors, different keys. Different EVERYTHING.

Trying the same approach twice rarely changes anything. What matters is knowing where to go next without guessing. And this is what NonDetected can surely help you with.

Some websites don’t produce content. They recycle it.

Pull, copy, publish, repeat. And most of the time, no one pays attention to them. Until a name shows up where it shouldn’t.

Removing the source feels like the logical fix. But it rarely is. Copies stay up. Sometimes more appear. Same material, different URLs, same visibility.

Cleaning it up isn’t a one-step process. It’s repetitive by design. Ignore it, and it tends to come back in a slightly different place.

The first fake review feels small.

“Probably just a bad customer” you may say...

Then comes the second one, and it looks quite similar. Hmmm... the third one uses the same phrasing. What da? By the fifth review, your bookings slow down. Traffic to your website decreases. Now it's not just about a bad review...

You are not alone here. We’ve seen this pattern doooozens of times.
Coordinated attacks rarely stop on their own. They test your actions. They test reaction speed. Silence gives them space. And this can continue.

Early documentation + structured escalation usually stops the spread before it multiplies across platforms. Delay turns a spark into a pattern.

So, always try to act quicker and document everything from the very beginning.

A business owner contacted us after losing two partnership opportunities.

Both companies said the same similar things like: "We saw something online and wanted to clarify..."

The issue was a five-year-old forum thread accusing the company of fraudulent behavior. The claims were never proven, but the thread kept appearing in Google results. The challenge was that the forum had multiple scraped copies across mirror sites.

Removing one page did not solve the problem!

Over several months, the work included:
• documenting false statements
• contacting moderators
• submitting platform escalation requests
• tracking mirror domains
• filing structured removal requests

Eventually, the content's visibility was significantly reduced.

This kind of work rarely happens overnight. But persistence and the correct process often lead to real improvements.
