🌍 GovStack Essentials at TalTech: turning digital government ideas into public services
Last week, we welcomed 25 policymakers, government officials, IT specialists and digital transformation leaders from 21 countries to Tallinn for the ITU Academy course “GovStack Essentials: Transforming Public Services with Modern Digital Infrastructure.”
🌐 From Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America, participants brought perspectives from Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Burundi, Canada, Chile, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Libya, Nigeria, Peru, Romania, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam - creating an international environment for exchanging ideas about digital government.
Organized jointly by International Telecommunication Union(ITU) and TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, the programme explored how modern digital infrastructure can enable better more accessible and citizen-centric public services.
Participants worked hands-on with GovStack’s modular building blocks, exploring digital identity, data exchange, and digital payments. Most importantly, they put this knowledge into practice.
Dr Riina Palu noted:
“Bringing together professionals from so many different countries creates a unique space for learning from one another. GovStack Essentials showed how international collaboration and practical experimentation can turn digital government ideas into services that respond to real public needs.”
Dr Eric Jackson:
“Digital government is ultimately about creating public services that work better for people. What made this week particularly amazing was seeing multidisciplinary teams take GovStack principles and turn them into practical service prototypes that reflect challenges from their own countries.”
The week highlighted that successful digital transformation is about much more than technology.
It was a pleasure to contribute to this international learning environment and exchange knowledge and experiences with digital government professionals worldwide.
