“How can we help our employees integrate well in Austria?”
Your questions, answered.

Making friends in Austria can be tricky !
Social circles are often close-knit.

But there are two keys to success:

✅ Language – German skills open doors to both professional and social life.
✅ Intercultural training – Understanding Austria’s cultural codes makes settling in much smoother.

💡 Austrians are famously punctual. Being “fashionably late” is definitely not the way to win friends here!

With the right support, employees don’t just relocate to Austria – they belong.

👉 How do you support integration in your company?

What do the French struggle with the most when moving to Singapore?

For many French expats, one of the biggest surprises is… finding good quality French food and ingredients! 🥖🧀🍷

Here are some key challenges:

✅ The variety of local food is incredible (hawker centres, street food, international options), but authentic French products can be harder to find.

✅ Imported cheese, wine, and charcuterie are available but often at a much higher price than in France.

✅ Grocery shopping requires adaptation, you’ll quickly learn which stores specialise in European products and which markets are best for fresh, local produce.

💡 Tip: Many expats embrace the mix by combining local flavours with imported French staples!

Two days, six hours, and countless insights later – our members gathered for a truly global online meet-up!

Summer is always a busy season in our industry,
so it felt great to reconnect and exchange.

Our new Board, elected in April, was also eager to share reflections on their roles.
Let’s just say: the work looks a little different once you’re on the inside…🫣

The highlight, as always, was the round table.
Members shared market updates
ranging from housing shortages in Madrid to rising costs in Singapore.

And of course, no meeting is complete without a touch of humour. 🤪
From unusual client requests to cultural quirks (yes, even toilets!), these stories remind us of the very human side of global mobility.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again in November for our final online meeting of the year!

You’ve just moved to and your new Quebecois colleague tells you with a smile, “Bon, à lundi, bonne fin de semaine !”

Wait… what? 🤔
Isn’t the weekend “le week-end” in French?

💡 Not in Quebec! They say “fin de semaine” for Saturday and Sunday. The word weekend doesn’t quite make the cut here.

But that’s not the only twist.
Conversations in Quebec can start in French, drift into English, and finish back in French !
Or the other way around!!

A playful dance of franglais where each speaker picks whichever word feels most convenient.

For newcomers, it can feel dizzying…
unless you’re bilingual, in which case it’s simply fascinating!

Relocating employees to ?
Here are some essential do’s and don’ts to help you navigate the local workplace culture ⤵️

✅ DO offer standard perks such as health insurance, meal allowances, and transportation support - they are widely expected in Turkey.
✅ DO allow a few minutes’ flexibility with meeting times, especially in informal contexts.
✅ DO take into account important religious holidays like Ramadan and Kurban Bayramı when planning schedules and workloads.

❌ DON’T take language skills listed on CVs at face value - English proficiency is often overstated.
❌ DON’T ignore the rules around working hours. The legal limit is 45 hours/week, and overtime must be compensated - either financially or with time off.
❌ DON’T bring up sensitive topics like politics in the workplace - it’s best to keep conversations professional and neutral.
