Smallholder oil palm farmers often have to make costly decisions with too little practical support. When advice is available, it is often too general and does not reflect the actual conditions of each farm.

This short video explains how CropDrive.ai is being developed to address that gap. Our focus is simple: better farm decisions, lower input waste, healthier soils, stronger yields, and a path toward broader smallholder participation in future carbon opportunities.

The goal is to make high-quality advisory support more accessible, more practical, and more relevant to the realities farmers face in the field.

Many smallholders prune their oil palm hard to keep the block tidy and make harvesting easier. Months later, bunch numbers drop, even when fertilizer and harvesting rounds stay the same. Often the issue is not fertilizer, it is too many green fronds being cut.

Green fronds feed the palm and support new bunch formation. When too many green fronds are removed, leaf area drops and the next bunches suffer. The effect often shows late, around six to eighteen months after heavy pruning.
